Which suby requires the least cutting?

Hi guys!

Greetings from Norway!

Stumbled upon this forum a while ago, and after reading here, I ditched my wasserboxer in bug plans, now I want suby power!

I have aquired an adapter set, so what I need now is a engine

I`m not sure if I like all the cutting involved in installing a dohc motor, but I do want alot of power, as in 200hp+, I didn`t get a reinforced tranny for nothing :)

How would it be to turbo one of the Sohc engines? Would the parts from, say a ej20t, be compatible?

Oh, by the way, it`s going in a 69 bug, irsed, with 944 brakes.

I was told it fit the entire EJ series?

If it does not, then I will not let that decide what engine to get.. I`ll just trade the adapter in for one that fits then..

We have legacys and imprezas.

Thanks for the info.

Is there any engines with sohc and turbo?

Wouldn`t that be a good way to go in a bug?

Or what engine would you recommend?

When moving the gearbox forward, I read that some of the guys in here used the gene berg mount, did they skip the whole front mount?

Yes, that is right. The VW front mount is removed and replaced with a Gene Berg 'cross-chassis' mount

Got a good offer on a EJ20TT, why do you not recommend using it? Is it because of ECU problems or space conserns?

I will be running megasquirt, does that lessen the problems?

The twin turbos are a wast of time & tuning with after market ecu is not easy .I dont like the twin set up & most remove them & fit a big single turbo .

One of the lads here has 220kw at the wheels , I been chased down many times with this subaru & its dam fast .

The bottom end is very good in this motor & its closed deck

What are you paying in AU $ for the motor ?

Your have extra weight as well with the TT set up .Dont go this way .

If the motor is low K and dam cheap & you can swap the TT set up for single turbo do it .

In saying all this I placed an order today In Japan for a TT front cut RS legacy .
As it was a good price .

In australian dollars it would be abit under 2000. That is without ecu and wiring.

I got a price on a STI front cut, that would be 7800 AU$.

Things are quite expensive up here, so I do think the TT engine is quite good value compared to other things up here.

Shipping for a complete engine from japan would be a killer.

What do I need to convert the TT to single turbo, is it only the exhaust and turbo and some piping, or is the intake manifold and stuff different to?

Guess I could buy the single turbo parts from the usa.

All TTs are closed deck, thats good to know.. Definetively wouldn`t hurt to have closed deck...
