Fixing my daughters Fastback NEW PICTURES!!

Hi

We have started to fix my daughters fastie after she took on the back of a truck.

The first photo is the result after I jumped on the bonnet to get it lower so I could drive it to my place.

Just the start, I have a bit of work to do on the nose before we tak it into place then put a bonnet on to line that up and then some guards on to line it up to them, when all is set up right then weld her all up .

hopefully in the next 2 months she will be ready.

Yeah big job.

We spent about 2 hours marking and measuring and then we cut out both cars.
When we clamped on the new front just to see how it would fit it was only out by 3mm and we still have to tidy up the cut edges, so when it is ready for final fittment it should be back to the 1mm the donar car measured before we cut it.

Nice work. I've seen this sort of thing done before on John Henry's website "thebugshop.org". Does not look like an easy task and congradulations on getting the courage to do it.

thanks people

I am not a panel beater or something but the mates helping are very good not tradies but good.

I had to do something as I owned this fastie before my daughter got her hands on it, and my wife and I spent a lot of time and dollars getting it back on the road a few years ago, so there was no thought of not fixing her up, just had to get the time to do it.

So far this week I hae been working on the replacement nose, getting all the paint off and treating the rust and undercoating ready for going onto the car.

will post more pictures as we do more work,

Marc

Hi peoples

We have done some more work on the fastie.

The new nose is on and all welded up.
When we had the nose on and tacked in we measured the front of the car, It is exactly the same measurements as the donor car.
Dead straight!.

Here are a few pictures.
The first one is the nose tacked in.
The secound one is with the bonnet on checking to see how it would line up.
The third one is with the guards on again checking to how they would line up.
The fourth one is Michael finishing up the last of the welding to complete the transplant of the nose on to the car.You can see the new green doors behind Michael, they have been sanded back ready for paint.

We are very happy with the end result as everything lined up perfectly, with no gaps.

Next job is to fix a bit of rust in the new guards, which have been taken back to bare metal and under coated.
I am working on the bonnet this week to strip it back and undercoat it, then we will put them all back on to do the spray putty once that is done then do the paint and hopefully back on the road in time for the Gold Coast show.

I will post more pictures and more gets done.

Marc

And don't think it wasn't talked about!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She just wanted her baby back the way she was before the truck.
Michael reckons her first 'cruise' should be to the refrigeration terminal so the car will have an aversion to refrigerator trucks.

Now painted

Hi peoples

It been a while but a lot of work has been done on the fastie.

The front boot and outer guards have been painted in body deadner, and everything is painted and roughtly bolted on the car to harden .

Here are the pictures we took today while painting the fastie.

Over the next week or so the inside will be put back together while the paint goes hard. Then we will wet and dry the paint and cut and polish her, then bolt her all back together then she will hit the road for the first time in 18 months.
