Where's the engine number?


I know u guys must be sick of this question but i cant find any otha posts in the search.

Where is the engine number located? i gotta find what engines in my bug so i can get a carby kit 4 it etc etc

which is also above the Crankshaft pulley with the fan belt
or below the generator pulley with belt...

what model car do You have?

and what are the numbers on the carburetor?
it may NOT be a standard carby...

To top that off, vw machined many engine numbers off cases that didnt come out in vehicles. So you could be looking at a nice smooth shiney machined surface instead of the number.
Most carbie kits do a variety of standard carbs anyway.
