They're raffling a splittie
In Melbourne Central shopping hell. It's the blue splittie that is in the Telstra ads.
I haven't had a look - a friend told me. I might have to go and have a squiz and buy a ticket or two.
Anyone know where this Kombi came from? |

I have seen this thing in Sydney and it's a joke. It's a blue bay. Not a splitty and definitely not Matt's splitty. There flyer has it on it but it
is not the car in the raffle.

that kind of sums up Telstra really ... what they seem to offer is not actually what you get. Should be 'Ive been dropped out everywhere maan', or
'I've been slowed to 56k again maan'. High time Telstra took the reduction hubs off DSL and gave us the same speed the rest of the planet gets.
Matt had some great photos at Valla of the film shoot they did....no they are not raffling off Matts, due to the falling share price, Sol can't
afford it.

haha... yes, they are cocks not investing in faster speeds... however sol blames ACCC for the shortfall.. he does not want to 'pick the pockets of
the shareholders to fund national infrastructure' .... when the share price is rock bottom, don’t want to invest in the company.... bah,,,
fuck that.. I just want fast internet....
... also. i agree, put a sweet arse bus in the ads and try to palm off a bay... sums it all up realy..

i don't think they could get away with that though.. you could get them for misrepresentation (tort of deceit) or possibly even breach of condition
if you were creative

Maybe I'm a little biased in expressing the above opinion, but really... what is there too complain about?... a bay will set ya back a good 5 or 6
grand for one in decent condition... and I might add that this one in the Telstra promotion had rather a lot of work put into it if I recall AND is an
automatic!

What does it read in the advertising? ..does it say its a "splitty" or a "kombi"...false advertising there if they state its a split....

Was chatting about this with a couple of mates tonight...down in Tassie dont have the fast optics and dont look like getting em either...apparently
shareholders are more important than new customers. Problem is Telstra wants a monopoly, if the cables are put down they want to own them outright, no
piggy backing by other companies using there stuff...so it seems it will never happen. It is all buggered until the federal gov gets of it's
proverbial and sells the 50 odd percent to the public.

So they are clean...

I take your point Schmo, and I'd take it any day :bounce
The point is though that it's unfair of them to be so misleading in their advertising. I could forgive most companies, but not one so big as Telstra
for such a fundamental mistake.
I think it is clearly misrepresentation, as it is a statement of fact that induces one party into the contract. It would be hard to prove that it was
anything other than an innocent misrepresentationt though, as to take action under a tort of deceit would mean having to prove that the
misrepresentation was wilfully false and also that you have suffered loss or damage.
It's a bit of a long shot, but if you go up to the person selling the lottery ticket and point to the splittie on the flyer and ask, 'Is that the
car that you're raffling away?' and if they says yes, then ask again. If they say yes again (and you won), then you could probably claim that it was
a condition, as it was so essential that if it hadn't been a splittie you wouldn't have entered into the contract.

oh, and I think we need a wholly-owned government telco because private companies are very reluctant to spend the big capital it takes to invest in
infrastructure. The government doesn't need it's telco to be profitable, however, as long as it's good for the people. I mean, sure, you can
depreciate the infrastucture assets over their assumed useful life (which would be pretty long), but it's still a fair dent in their operational
earnings

Telstra customers left in droves due to the crap service and general attitude, the DSL speed issue may not have been an issue if they had looked after
the people that owned them (us). They want it both ways, and in the mean time spend money in 'brand building' and front of house, but at the end of
the day, convergence in global communications and DSL will continue to errode their AU market share. As Telcos globally are not seen by investors as a
'good idea', then they will stuggle to get back to their list price, let alone a profit to their shareholders.
It the open up the throttle on DSL - which they can do of coax - they just wont fess up to it - then VOIP will be better, and faster and they open
themselves up to even more problems. It is not in Telstras interests to open up the throttles, as they will be obliged to let Optus et al, benefit
from it too, and they out perform them. Then VOIP gets up on mobiles and landlines ... and they loose again.
I agree, Australia needs a government funded Telco, and concentrate on what the country needs, rather than giving shareholders a return - which is
minimal as T2 is a joke.
Lets hope that Matt made some money out of them. The ad is a scam, but then it comes out of some marketing morons brain, who probably has no idea what
the actual prize is anyway, a kombi is a kombi.

True marty, your point is equally valid good sir... but we all must ask ourself this question...
Would we complain if they advertised a bay and gave us a splitty?
OK... I would... maybe you would.. but still LOL.. plenty of folks
wouldnt!
OK.. I'm just joining in the fun and being a total knob now... so nothing I say in this post or subsequent posts is not to be taken seriously until
further notice!... except that is the bit about this post not at all being serious.... that is to be taken dead seriously!
Now what could possibl;y have happened to bajachris.. I'm surprised at not seeing his 2 bob worth thus far in this thread! :duh
it is actually quite refreshing.. but anyway... *trails off into oblivion*

I agree with Kieren, I would happily take a free bay, be it with a crap undercoat or nor, but I also agree that telstra is crap. They are two separate
topics. I feel sorry for all the mum and dad investors that paid I think $7 a share and now they are worth a kick in the arse.
So..... a chance to win a free bay -good on ya Telstra
...... performances over DSL, country australia and general maintenance - go get screwed sol!

maybe they need a straight axle conversion off an Optus beetle.
You know telstra (telecom) used to have orange bay service vans. Really cool. I remember em as a little kid. Maybe it's one of those...NOT LIKELY.
I had a rotten Telstra woman ring me on my private mobile number yesterday to offer me "a better deal" on my prepaid. I politely told them to go
away. And that if I wanted them I'd contact them. They must be getting very desperate if they are bothering to harrass prepaid customers, the scum of
the mobile world.
