BFW ?
Hi All,
My son who will be turning 3 shortly loves watching Herbie. Don't we all and he's watched all the movies.
Now the funny thing is he continually spells "Herbie" with the 3 letters BFW, and I can't work out where he's gotten it from...now have been
through the movies trying to see if there is something within them i.e. number plates, signs etc but nothing stands out.
This one has me beat....Can you guys help solve the mystery!!
Cheers

I would guess that he is trying to say vee double yoo
Kids cant usually say the letter V until they are about 4.
Until then they will often substitute the letter for something else...
and say things like Bolkswagen, etc.
Try him on some other words starting with V and see what he comes out with

ur son might be like mine...
he has herbie as BEW...
turns out..from what i can gather as his writing is much clearer now...he was writing 53 w... which is now 53 vw
the 'B" is like 8 which is like 5.
the 'e' and '3' are often interchangable in a childs mind..and writing....(most kids do that one)
and the "W" in the cicle...to a child...is a 'w'...not a VW...make sense??
may not be that at all for ur child...but i got to watch as aj's progressed...and began to make sense...only took about 6 months to work it
out....(derrr for mummy)
and I am assuming i do not need to explain the 53 vw...right?
dubless.
And who the helled parked the Mitsubishi "Prancer" under my
house???

Bugeyedbabe, I can see your theory with the numbers & letters interchanging...
Jo_Tas, I hope you did get some sleep
BajaChris, yeah, I luv it when my kids talk and mix things up, and your right , BFW does feel german
david777, my boy says Herb when ever he sees Herbie, it's only when I ask him to spell Herbie that he produces BFW.
ColumBUS, that makes 2 of us with no idea my curiousity is killing
me as this has been bugging (no pun intended ) me for 7-8 months now.
Thanks for your suggestions so far guys
Cheers
