well when the sun comes up tommorrow i'll be seriously stressin out as i am now! The car doesn't run right as it coughs and splutters when i drive it. It needs a serious service. It cost me $47 to fill the car and basically thats all the driving i've done in her since i got her friday afternoon. There's only a months rego on it so i've gotta get all this sorted out really quick as it is our only form of transport. I've also gotta detail me landlords car tommorrow morning too. She's lucky as she is leaving for greece this week.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm over 100km away actually....the clossest VW place would be Makay and then Cairns, which is half the problem up here, everything being so far away. It would cost you about $400 to get the car to Brisbane. Ring her and tell her you want your money back ASAP PLUS $400 to get the car to Brisbane. Cut your losses i reckon....the distance will be the killer in this being resolved. Otherwise drive through every red light etc so she looses her license..."just for a laugh" as the car would be in her name...just kidding:o Sleep on it and see what tomorrow brings:rudolf

actually $600 to get the car back to brissy, trust me i know, paid $700 to get it up because she wouldn't drop the car to the depot. I've already asked for my money back and she refused. But the bug has potential, just got to get her to fix it like it should have been in the first place. When i drove it to the shop today, boy didn't i get some looks from everyone going buy.

go see Legal Aid in the first instance. Only cost you an hour of your time. Option B. Stick it on eBay...people there want to pay as little as possible, so usually get what they pay for

Then i would get a quote for the rust repairs ASAP and get the $$$ off her. Brisbane is a backload so is cheaper to send there.$350 from Townsville to Brissneyland depot to depot and $650 Brissneyland to Townsville (TNT). Personally i would be asking her to get the RWC "renewed" as such, that is to get her to go back to wherever she got it done and get a new one (she could just tell them the car is about to be sold, but the old RWC expired so could they re write it pretty please). At least that way you could get the rego transferred over to your name and keep it on the road while the other stuff is fixed. Just my 2 cents. Check your U2U.

man what a day i've had. i couldn't get 2 of the three panelbeaters to give me a quote for the car as they don't wanna get involved. 1 will but i have to go back tommorrow as he was to busy today and told me to take photo's of all the rust thats in the car and come back tommorrow. I got one estamite from one pbeater saying it could cost between $1000-$1500 to fix the rust.I sent the previous owner a message about how much she is looking at paying for the rust and i haven't herd a word from her since. She's leaving for new zealand tommorrow.I tried ringing her and she's not answering.Looks like i'm ringing leagal aid tommorrow to get advice on what to do next. Also one of the workers at the last pbeater i went and seen has a 66 beetle, pink in colour and in good condition, mags etc $500 so when i see him tommorrow he's showing me photos of the car as it is out at alva beach. Might be the only thing that might save me for the moment.

well i dare say she might be trying to pull the wool over me eyes but she also gave me a number to fax the quotes to so i don't really know what to think at the moment, all i know is that i've gotta get legal aid to help me and go from there even though i'm certain i'm probably screwed outta me money and a car

well today she admitted basically to scamming me outta me money. Me panelbeater is going to help me repair the rust and do a new respray of the car even if i have to work it off. Damn the oil leak from this motor is just unbelievable, and get this, the motor isn't a 1.6 but a 1.3, i wouldn't be suprised if she cancels the rego on me. Bloody legal aid was no help either as they didn't ring me back so now i'm really stressin out. Have to ring them tommorrow. Got shown a 66 model today in ok condition, a bit of rust around the back but it's repairable, brand new interior, mags, good chrome bumpers $500 colour is pink thinking of buying it with the money i have left and fix it up too.

I tell ya what when she basically admitted what she done i was fuming, maybe i should go to the cops, but what can they do? maybe i should ring me mate in the cib and get some advice from him. If anyone can help me with parts and so forth i won't say no thats for sure. I've never worked on a vw motor before so it would be good if someone gave me a hand. I'll do my best to put on a barbie and so forth for those willing to help out.

you may be better off getting the work done on the pink bug first...

make a list of what needs doing with each car...and costs..and go from there.

there are still a few things u can ring around to ask about as well..see what was legal and what wasn't.
1. a car sold with rego, needs to be sold with a safety cert. what happens when it hasnt been
2. a rwc was issued on the car 2 months ago, but obviously it was dodgy. Who gets in trouble for it.

You also need to find out how u can continue contact with her, so u knwo where to send the letters of demand.

Also, how long ago was the car purchased....when u purchase and item from a company or business...you ahve a cooling off period of 7 days in which to return the item. Im not sure this applies with a private sale.

Also, where did u purchase the car through? Was it ebay? I thought Ebay had a protection policy, which may also help....it means u go tot hem..and they go to her.

others have something similar as well......might be worth a try, depending on who u used. It may not get u anywhere..but it cant hurt to try.

cheers
donna

Take a deep breath.

Sort out the car 1 issues before you get into another one....

Goto the police and do a report...

Seek legal advise if you are in RACQ you get it free, try some of the womens info link services, they give free legals too.

You may have to start small claims procedures.

I've just read this thread all the way through...man, this is awfull.... and the advice and support is awesome....... I'm agreeing with what is being said here mate.... but I reckon, just before you go to the cops, give her one last chance, tell her exactly what you are going to do next, if she doesnt do EXACTLY what you want.... get freakin seriously uncompromising, GET ANGRY, like she was a naughty kid having a tanty, and if she wavers from what you ask, just tell her that you wont stop until this is fixed one way or another.....you have her by the balls........DAMN crooked people to an eternity in a river of excrement

well today i rang legal aid today and got told they will ring me back tommorrow, rang the dept of transport and all they told me was to transfer the rego and fix the problems when i could, so i went and transfered the rego as i did it just in time before the rwc ran out. They told me if i did it today i'd be right so i did. Me panelbeater friend told me to come back on monday as he was tied up with a job that needed finishing, which was understandable, he said come monday he'll be able to get things moving on the car. Getting the 66 bug off his worker this weekend even though i'm gunna be paying him off he said he'll drop it to my place this weekend regardless if i pay the money straight away or pay him off. While i was in getting the rego transfered into my name my other half went next door to the cop shop and sat for her learner's and blow me down she got it!

well lucky for me the rwc was still valid even though it was 2 months old...funny that.if i had of left it till tommorrow it would have been out of date.I rang first so luck was on my side for once. Her name(the seller) is susan (edit) and she lives at (edit) mermaid beach. To bad she's in new zealand at the moment. She reckons she owns a $15000 combi van? Anyway i took some photos of the car and the rust but the camera wasn't playing nice so here's the ones that worked.
