CBA Bank email sent from yahoo address??
I received an email that looked like it was from the CBA bank
and they had a site to go to to update My info...
otherwise My netbanking would be closed....
but when i looked to see where it came from in properties
the address it was sent from was a Yahoo address ending in .br
not sure what that means, maybe Brazil? UK?
but, it surely wasn't the CBA bank...:P:P

Yes, inform CBA of this email as they've said on netbank lately to be aware of Emails asking to update your netbank details.
Netbank NEVER sends emails asking you to update information.
I'm assuming the email was poorly written?

The only relatively safe way to use banking, CC purchases etc online is to use your on-screen keyboard (Start - All Programs - Accessories -
Accessibility).
Mouse clicks can't be keylogger recorded to get your passwords and personal info.

I get emails alot of the time that go into my junkmail that say they are from commonweal bank. I don't do internet banking so I know this isn't a
real email and I just delete them.

Ignore it.
We had the same issues 3 years ago in W35tpac which created a denial of service as the spammed emails bounced back to our servers resulting in
backlog. No Bank asks you to enter your personal passwords into an email. After working with the Federal Police and believe it or not, the FBI, these
emails where traced to underworld activities based in Russia.
So there you go Lee....you're part of a big world wide scam. Feel honoured.

Yes,
it was written badly..
with spelling errors and grammar errors...
but I see grammar errors in magazines and newspapers..
so its a common thing these days...
I did send this email to spoof@cba bank etc..
but they haven't replied...
most of these spoof addresses have automatic replies...
I did however notice, since My Son pointed it out to Me a year or so ago...
that it wasn't My email address it showed on the email...
sometimes, it looks as though they have sent the email to every address in the ISP I use....
I notice with CBA netbanking, that they are asking for the answers to questions I've supplied to them,
very often...
so things are getting better security wise...
My Wife was telling Her friend about the Fraud squad ringing last week about Mastercard transactions...
and She said she had a $395 withdrawal on Her statement from a shop name she had never heard of, so She rang the shop, and they were supposed to ring
Her back...
My Wife told her to ring Mastercard ASAP otherwise she may end up paying for the bogus withdrawal....
Looking at Virgin Mastercard info - the person/s who took money from Our a/c last week via a Phone transaction, would have to know all MY details to
get a withdrawal - unless they had My PIN number... something I don't have -so I have to answer all the questions...
so, maybe they don't know all My info??
but used numbers to gain access to My account???

Yeah, this is true. Mouse clicks can't be key-logged but they can be screen logged. Needless to say, the on-screen keyboard is still a security
device worth using because hackers would really want to have your details to use a screen logger.
