Koala Rescue and other critters.

In the last couple of months i have seen many koalas in my area, my house backs onto bushland in the Kallangur/ Murrumba downs area in brisbane. Coming home tonight before i pulled into my street i suddenly thought about the koala that i had seen the other night, and sure enough as soon as i turned into my street there was one of the little guys in the middle of the street, with Dohles rocks road less than 20 metres away, which is always busy and people just speed all the time down it. My question is who do i contact to help these little guys out. I would like to become the local rescue guy in the area whom people can contact to help these little guys out. I am very worried about them, and it would bring this gentle giant(me) to tears if one was killed, i know of at least 10 in my area, both juveniles and mothers, please any help would be appreciated. Cheers Damo.

This is my Volkswagen, there are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my Volkswagen is useless, without my Volkswagen, I am useless.

WIRES Australia. Most vets will have the contact number of their rep in your area, and they encourage volunteers.

Remember, all vets in Australia are required by law to treat NATIVE animals free of charge to you, or to contact WIRES themselves if it's out of their league.

My local vet hates me for knowing this, more than one injured possum - bird - reptile delivered their way in the last 11 years.

Hope it helps.

Cheers,

Mick.

I live in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.
