quote of the day

sorry to offend the owner if theyre on here but i really had to laugh when i read this on an ebay bug

"Engine modified and rebuilt with porsche but it looks standard."

yes it certainly looks like a very standard 1500 to me

oh well i think as long as porsches and vws were designed by the same guy ppl will always pass them off as the same

If I had a dollar for every time I heard someone say "I knew a guy once who had a Porsche motor in his Beetle/ Kombi"

At the risk of showing my age, I remember a (Australian magazine; possibly "Sports Car Magazine") road test of a Beetle back in the '60s fitted with a Porsche engine, which managed 90 m.p.h. These engines were available from the Porsche importers and were a direct 4-cylinder, bolt-in replacement for the then 1300 motor. The engine swap was performed in one day and (though I'm straining my memory banks) included a change to dual carbs (Porsche supplied).

I suspect it is from these obscure origins that the legend arose; in those days it was a very real proposition.

I also remember a time before the computers, when telephones were fixed to the wall, but my mind may be wandering...

ah yes...i remember when phones were fixed to walls...and there were no such things as mobile.

mobile just meant u had a huge cord which u wound up when the call was finished. thats as mobile as it got.

and not push buttons...but dials...ones u used to push round...not down.

Was round the time my mums emergency brake was a brick we took out and under the wheel to park...and grabbed and jumped back in the car when she finished. once she got pulled over by the cops...and prayed they wouldnt ask her to step out...she'd have to have asked them to put the brick under the wheel as she was all alone .

pmsl...crazy woman got away with murder i swear
