Hi
It maybe around a 71, it has disc brakes. Its a similar crime when people fit early bumpers etc to late beetles and v4v.

and here i was thinking they were all the same...:P:P:P
different ears? - different air vents
- I thought there were only two kinds of bays..
--low blinkers and high blinkers...
I can see I'll have to get more into Kombis...
and take more notice...

I forgot to say I like the paint scheme..
Very unusual...
and doing a good job of hiding all the different bits in this multi year type 2...
but I do like the later models with the high blinkers...

72 was a mix'n'match year.. that is why it a very collectable year..
Had the early bay front with late bay rear (inc large rear lights) and late bay running gear.. still kept the type 1 1600 donk.. Servo asssisted
brakes etc...

zigg...
i think its a nice looking bay. we have a few that have 'split screen' look to them...i've seen 2 in my area alone.
i'd be inclined to whip it back to looking like a bay though. nothing wrong with those bay...they coming into their own now.
And I agree H...no vw shoudl be flogged off to the wrecker....ever...we can save them all...or transplant them into others. I sent one to a
wrecker...and hope to never again...

72 IMO is the choice year, early looks and BIG engine bay. Stick some electrical tape down the glass, complete the look. Man that paint is nasty.

hey...i saw one hte other side of brissy...whilst driving so have no idea what suburb I was in...i was parked at lights..and it was opposite me...the
bay was painted to look like the split...and it had that press on 'chrome line' stuff too it...to make it look like the chrome on a split front
end...btu then i noticed the vents...and that it was a bay....not the split.
i thought i was going mental...well...more insane than usual
so by comparision...this on isnt too bad...
btu yeah...paint it if u get it...just for my sanity!

Yep... it's a '72.
They didnt only come with 1600's tho... the 1700 type 4 was available as an option in 1972, and was for the most part chosen over the standard
1600.
The '72 bus didnt come with a top engine access hatch that was fitted to later models, and had shorter intake manifolds.
