Energy Polariser
Thought I had better make another thread about Brock away from the grieving thread.
My first issue is the fact that his death is receiving so much investigation. Motor racing is about driving a car as fast as you possibly can as close
to the limit as you possibly can. It doesnt matter who you are, you are going to screw up every now and then. It wasnt Brocks first crash, he's done
it plenty of times before. One that comes to mind is at bathurst I think in a VR where he crashed bloody heavily backwards into the concrete wall and
shortened the car by 2 feet. The only difference between this and his last crash was that there was no concrete wall and this allowed the car to hit a
tree. Looking at data recorders and crap is a waste of time. There is nothing to investigate.
The second thing is the polariser. I watched part of the Head to Head interview and he is still bleating over the miracle box and claiming it was a
conspiracy by GM. Maybe he did, maybe he didnt truly believe that the thing worked at the time. But by his own admission he has no evidence to back up
any of his claims. Surely in 20 years he could have found something... line up 2 identical cars with and without one? Dyno? I'm sure that if there
was some kind of benefit they would be in all sorts of cars by now. If it was just a beat up by GMH to get their hot car sales back, why didnt he fit
the polariser to the fords he later built? I'll paste part of his interview with denton at the end so you can figure out if you could believe it for
a second. If you could go and buy a box which contained magnets and a crystal from supercheap... would you? Whoever put this idea into his head must
have been a master of mind control as he is obviously no dope. Even the automotive witchdoctors who sell miracle pills that raise your hp by 33% while
decreasing fuel consumption by 25% and reducing emissions by 10% havent jumped onto the polariser scam. Thats how incredible it is.
ANDREW DENTON: Can I just explain to those that don't know what it was, it was just a, it was a box...with magnets and crystals, which you said would
turn even a dog of a car into a sweet-running one. And basically, the press turned on you as some kind of New-Age crank.
PETER BROCK: They did, but I must tell you that the only portion of crystal in that was a sliver of crystal, not unlike what you have in a wristwatch.
So I wasn't exactly, you know, sleeping under pyramids and stuff like that.
ANDREW DENTON: Why did they turn on you?
PETER BROCK: I didn't have the ability to give them a suitable explanation as to why it worked.
ANDREW DENTON: And why not?
PETER BROCK: Too difficult, really. I mean, it was gonna cost me 750,000 dollars to get a scientific validation of it. And I didn't have it. I said,
"Look, can you just trust the fact that it does work?" And most of the journalists said, "Yeah, this works good."

Don't see why people feel it necessary to dig up dirt on others at all, especially others who have died... if he felt the polariser helped him,
whether it be scientific, mental, or otherwise.. who cares? it obviously worked for him.
And the reason his death is receiving so much investigation is because somebody died while motor racing on a public road... which means police (like
every crash) and the Confederation of Australian Motorsport (which governs all motor racing events) will get involved.
I am a CAMS official and have done trackside, worked as a starter, worked as a grid official, and now I work in a safety car/pace car at Sandown, and
i tell you, if we so much as wiggle the back end on that machine they question us as to why we felt the need to 'push the limits'... it's what they
do to keep people safe.
The only difference in Brocky's case, is that he is high profile. Any 'extra consideration' that may appear, is purely because the media is
involved... but trust me... investigations like this happen all the time... except normally we keep it behind the scenes so that the public just
don't have to worry their precious little heads about it.
Everyone knows it's obvious... he clearly slipped the back end slightly out onto the slippery shit on the side of the road and it just went out on
him.. unfortunately there was a tree smack in his unstoppable path, which he hit and spun around. We know that... but legally it has to be proven just
in case something was missed. Like when a plane falls out of the sky cos it's wings fell off... gotta prove why.
Hate to be a killjoy... but seriously man... just a lil respect never hurt anyone. If you've ever met him, you would know that he is truly a decent
man, and doesn't need small minded media gits blighting his name for the sake of their 5minutes of fame.
Rant over!

Number 1, im not digging up dirt. To me digging up dirt implies I have gone looking for something to smear his name. The polarizer thing was about as
public as public can get. Maybe now is not the time to bring it up, but I wouldnt have done that if I hadnt heard the conspiracy theory so many times
in the last few days when I am near 100% sure they wouldnt buy a polarizer.
Number 2, I dont need preaching to about being a CAMS official. I've been working as an official, as a driver, and a pit crew for over 15 years.
Number 3, You may not realise it but you are agreeing with me at least in part about the investigation. I believe that that investigations like this
happen because people look for someone to blame. You can bet your arse that police are looking to find something that will come to their defence
should a finger point to them. Same deal with CAMS and its insurer. When all the while the whole world knows it was a motor racing incident. The wings
falling off a plane is a slightly different matter. That should never happen while a race car crash is inevitable. And nowhere in this statement am I
denigrating his soul. This is nothing to do with him, nut the people left surrounding the car today.
I realise he is a decent man who has done shitloads for charity and he has more fans probably than any other driver in australia will have and has won
more bathurst etc etc etc. But that doesnt mean that I cant comment on his life.
I never met him, met everyone else in the HDT in 1994 and our team swapped shirts as you do with all teams. I could tell you why Brocks autograph isnt
on the jumper but to do so would dig up dirt that isnt general knowledge and would alienate myself further.

oh my fcken god. i cant believe i have been away from the forum for a week and all this emotionally charged outbursts have crashed together (pardon
the pun) in a mess of crocodile tears (oh jeez, can ya tell im gunna get myself into trouble here???)
personally. im with homebrand. more beer. more weatbix. and for christs sake would you stop dumping your dirty car bodies on penguins front lawn?? the
neighbours are complaining.
as for brocky. listen, lets not speak ill of the dead but COME ON!! are you serious? if someone lives a very public life people are pretty much
entitled to say whatever they want about them, within reason, within legalities and within good taste. just because some one has died doesnt mean you
cant debate some of the decisons they made intheir lives - good or bad. amazeer was just bringing up the very dodgy affair that has had lots of press
coverage, pre death, the guys not a saint, he's work doesnt become too holy to be spoken of just because he's now "in heavan" or whatever.
where the hell would that live us??? of course society needs to DEBATE the worthiness of these people we hold up to the sun in holier than thou
reverance ----- they are human after all --- and we would be in a pretty bad way if we didnt acknowledge the good and the bad of our "heros" and the
results of the lives of these very rich/famous/influential/powerful/successful/PUBLIC people. yes in some cases they deserve respect and everyone
deserves privacy in their private lives.. but id rather we talked about people's faults as well as their strengths. none of em are super hereos ---
steve irwin included.
its too much for aussie kids to grow up with these false ideals about larger than life characters that we and the media portray are totally
untouchable and every moment of their lives was GLORIOUS and noteworthy and worthwhile.
just listen to steves dad when he said he was a decent bloke and a good son. i am in no way discounted all the great stuff he has done, especially his
environmental and conservational work aand as a role model for kids. but sh**, there was some truth in what germaine greer said about him too!! maybe
very badly timed to say that stuff, but sh**, there was an element of truth in it.
and aside from the deal-breaking newage crystal thing brock had - in my eyes he was a bit of a filthy womaniser his whole career and he left his wife
and stole his best mates wife!! how UNaustralian!!! i dont hate the guy, im not disrespecting his name, b ut its my opinion, and im entitled to at as
a taxpayer who is paying for his funeral!!!!
all im saying is that we can critique our role-models and national heros, lets yes speak of their flaws as well as their triumphs, it mite be a way to
develop some better ideals (ie not just sporting and entertainment hereos, but some with a bit of substance and morals and strength in other areas)
oh sh**. im running and hiding now. :o
sorry had to edit post purely for swearing lots, opps, sorry forgot its general chitchat.

Apparently chris... yes it does! I dont know what you call it but in commodres it sat in that section just below the windscreen, under the bonnet
where the air vent intakes are. Unless I'm mistaken... but that would be unpossible :P

watching all this happen a long time ago, brings back this
irrelivant of whether the thing worked or not, Peter believed in it & therefore did what he beleived was right at the time
because the media had named him Peter Perfect, a name which he disagreed with & hated - It was time to take him down, & make as much money as possible
out of it, just like Steve Irwin & the non-eaten baby
where GM was coming from at the time, I dunno, maybe they simply did not want any bad press filtering back on them
so for a while until the interest dropped off, Brock was all bad.
also from memory, the polariser was "intricately wired in" to car. I may or may be wrong, I just switched off the whole thing, as I hate seeing
people built up by the media & then crucified by them.
Nobody is perfect, everybody has skeletons in their closet,
He was a good driver, & an inspiration to a lot of people,
and a lot of good things came from that inspiration
Please, I need drivers side window regulator (winder mechanism) for my '54

Nah the company should be safe... they only want to know why the car left the road.
The chances of it being the car are minimal, because it would already have had to pass it's engineers, and scrutineering before the race.
PS... sorry again about snapping at you Amazeer... emotions running high... you know how it is
