Job of a lifetime

I'm so stoked. I've just had a phone call advising me that I was successful for a job that I'd applied for and had multiple interviews over the past couple of weeks. The role will require a quarterly trip to San Jose and San Fran, along with a yearly trip to Beijing and Bangalore. I've never been so honoured. I am so looking forward to getting to some of those US swap meets and shows. It will take a few weeks fo things to fall into place and get organised, so touch wood nothing happens. Argh!

I work for HAL (think about it). I'll be taking over the Asia Pacific Helpdesk management for a major global contract they have with a communications provider. My reporting manager is based in San Jose, and I'll have 50 staff based in Sydney, Beijing, Perth and Bangalore.

Not easy to get in with HAL. I have two friends that work there, and they love it. Work hard and you get very rewarded.

Is that as in the one better than IBM? or Halliburtons?

Either way, congrats mate, well done on getting what you were after.

Barry and Pete - you hit it on the head. I am still with that particular large worldwide technology company that is one better than HAL. Not sure when the trips will be though, but no doubt there will be an early one to meet up with the global team.

Chester - house is up for sale already to move around Hornsby way. But that won't change the club or anything. Things will still keep ticking over on the coast.

Re jobs - we use a couple of consulting agencies to supply contractors. Don't worry - when we need numbers I'll pop a post here.

Wow Paul, congratulations!! I'm impressed. This is great news for you and Gil.
I hope everything goes well for you over the next few weeks, especially the sale of your house... as I know that can be a headache!
