Not as good a condition as the other yard, but very interesting.
I like to look at them and think back to when they were new off the showroom floor. How happy were the new owners?

Sorta like a dog shelter, maybe they could call the business the RSPCVW.

The pics at Cooma (Flynns Wrecking Yard) were taken September 2002.
It is South of Canberra (Peter Harvey - Canbraaaaaaa).
It seems that most of the vehicles were put there when they were not very old, up to ten years maybe.
All the older stuff is stripped of mechanicals, but as you can see the door on the Beetle is very good.
There would have been 25-30 Beetles and 15 Kombis. All the hard to get bits are gone now. They are getting only to be good for rust panels.
A must visit if in the area, as it would be the most complete collection of Australian motoring history around. With thousands of cars from 1920's to 2002 it is amazing.
The condition of the cars is good too, as it is very dry air up there. The chrome is still good, and the paint even though it burns off the cars from the sun, the metal only gets a thin surface rust and then seems to stop, as though the rust is the new paint for the car.
Perfect place to find a Rat Rod.

I tried to buy a side window for my kombi from the place in Cooma about 4 years ago, but he was asking some ridiculous money for it (about $150 from memory). I got one for a lot less locally.

When I went there I didn't go with the intention of buying anything, I was only looking and collecting ol Holden vehicle ID plate info.
A friend of mine who has been there a few times, and who has gotten some old Holden parts, told me the prices, and realistically, they were probably above average also.

I spent a day in the Cooma wreckers yard in early Feburary ? this year. I was down for the weekend at Perisher for a working party on the club Ski lodge and we were evacuated because of the bush fires so with time on our hands two of us made the trip to Flynns Wreckers in Cooma I met Wayne the owners son and heir apparent he is a mate of a guy I work with, anyway after a chat we explained we had a few hours to kill he pointed us in a few directions and he let us loose in the yards.
Man this is a huge yard, we had water bottles and a packed lunch (not joking) we spent 4 hours there and that was not enough .Wayne said the Biggest in the Southern hemisphere and its 65 years old most of the wrecks were local and thier condition is amazing there are some chasis with 1 meter eucatypts growing in them , all sort not many kombies only splits maybey one or two bays , the photos are a pretty acurate display of them .there was one 11 window which was a reasonable resto but all were fully stripped and wayne seems to know the worth of all he valued the good split at $1500 .He has a fair idea as he gets plenty of passing Sydney panelbeaters and car enthusiests on the way to the snowfields droping in. As for beetles there were a few panels but no bits really same for type 3 s although I scored a set of notchback popouts. This is not a treasure trove Sydney Skiers pass it on the way to the snow in thier thousands every year. It is however a fascinating museum of automobilia that has been uncanilly preserved mainly thanks to the very low rainfal and lack of leaf fall from overhead foilage.
If you get a chance go there , a weekend at the Royal in Cooma (pub) Saturday at the wreckers and golf with Wayne at the Royal Cooma (Golf course) on Sunday . A great weekend away from the misses.

There is a guy just outside of Romsey in Victoria with a few buses and around 20-25 beetles and type III's. He might have some good parts.

Here are some photos.
