bridge support for torsion tubes(passed by engineer)
to be made out of 3mm plate to tie together the torsion tubes would this stop them moving inwards

Hi
I know what its like having to do stuff around the home, it takes away from VW play time.
Thats sort of like mine, only I used 50 mm & 50x25 mm heavy wall tubing.

You have kept the tortion tube where it was(height and width)?
What are you doing with the tortion bars and anchoring splines?
You are using 944 or 924 out board parts?

Dave what questions answered.same idea but different approach.
the angle of the driveshafts at a loaded position gearbox 75mm forward.
How I,m going to weld in the 40 tooth spline.

Sorry about highjacking your post. I should start my own post but things move so slow with me it would drop off into the ether in no time.
What sort of CV angles are you going to have and what type of CVs will you use? The angles look OK as far as I can tell from your pictures.

I,m going to cut the plines out of the torsion tube center the way its cast it has to ears on it so they will act like a keyway I,ll post some pics
I,m going to stop with this pan and start modifing the orignal pan use this one as a test rig.Idon,t mined you posting on the same post swap ideas

I think I was told to use 944 turbo axles or late axles & cv,s the axle being longer because of the gearbox being moved forward and replace the 915
drive huds 100mm to the 944 gearbox drive hubs.

Hi Malcolm
I bought some good used early 930 CVs and I also have some new late turbo CVs (much thinner than the early ones), Im not sure which ones I will use
yet. I will need to get my 944 stub axles altered to the 930 pattern.
Are you going to do any bracing to stop torsion tubes twisting forward? Thats why I have the 25x50 tube running past the chassis number area. Speaking
of chassis number, my engineer was very adament about not altering the chassis number area, I notice that you have a plate welded in in this area,
will you need to do this on the new chassis?

I am sorry that you misunderstood my comment.
I had put a couple of questions to Stevey,
and then found the link to his site,
after you mentioned seeing it.
Your work is supoib...don't start again on another pan!!
I went for a 930 4 speed but have been having too much fun in my car with the Kombi box to pull my finger out.

Steve my engineer said the same about the chassis # area the chassis number is still there.I meassured wrong and cut back to far now I,m going to have
trouble getting to the shifter coupling instead of going 75mm back I went 110mm back and clearanced for that.If I set up the later pan with a 2400mm
wheel base it might take me down the path of a ICV vehicle headaches.that metal plate is 50mm angle and it is to gusset that area I would run a flat
gusset on the bottom as well.I,ll be bracing the ends of the torsion tubes as well so they don,t twist .
Dave I used a later pan for the heavier orignal weight to comply with weight x cc,s which is state wide now.But because my project was registered with a VASS engineer before the rule came in I can get around
it.Also I,m having a torsion test done, in Vic there being a little more open minded:thumb.If i use the orignal pan there would be less removing of
metal and the car can get registered as a 56.That 4 speed g50 is a hard find very good in the orignal 930 turbos,also luv thoughs Autorotor
supercharges are they positive feed.

I was chatting with a bloke last week who used to race Buggies with Kombi boxes and 930 CV's,and he found a CV joint from a BMW that was a direct
replacement for the 930 and was about half the price.Has anyone been down this road?

Oohh thatfFan/supercharger combo could work.
Although the Autorotor only has a face contact drive location for the pulley.
The belt itself would probably struggle to transfer the power...10 rib multivee?
....yeah, I recon that would work. Nose support would need to be strong, and
perhaps a set of pins to connect the fan to the blower drive...hmmmm.
I have heard that the BMW CV is the same Lobro part number as the wide 930 CV.
I used Commadore CVs. They are narrower, but have the same PCD and spline size.
From what Steve said earlier, they may be the same as late Porsche.
I would guess the narrower CV could handle less angle.

I will measure the new Turbo joints that I have to see if they are anything common.
Im going to make a inspection hole in the bottom of my pan so that I get to my coupling.
Its funny that Malcolm and I have used soem of the same ideas, its great to use the net for help inspirartion. Dave, if you need any other info on
what Im doing let me know.
