TDI for T3
I wouldnt mind a diesel donk for starters i can get a tax rebate on it and Diesels are very economicl so a TDI is something I am considering for my
dualcab T3 . I realise that a subi would be a cheaper conversion however a 2.5 lt TDI wouldnt go to badly either, I have seen some 1.9 TDI
conversions but only heard rumour of 2.5s I was tpold that there were some factory ones in SAfrica?. I would be greatful for commetnt, links and
opinions? Thanks in advance. Michl

Does it have to be a VW TDI because General Motors are making a nice one at the moment (1.9 litre - 110kw & 320 nm) as found locally in the Holden
Astra. Apparantly more willing to rev than some of it's competitors which could be a good thing given you may not be able to get as tall gearing as
the factory ratios.
If it has to be VW the closest to this is the 2.0 litre 103kw & 320nm as found in various vw variants.
The VW 2.5 TDI needles to say has a substantial amount of torque about 400nm....sure you need that much?
Don't know of any conversions off the top of my head, but i'll keep an eye out on the net.

I think it will come down to what engine you can get for a decent price. Decent diesel engines are very expensive and more difficult to come across
than petrol jap import engines.
