my baja. ITS SO QUICK. awesome.

Here is some pics of my baja. Picked it up last week. I imported it it from a guy in the US. Its been converted to a valiant hemi six engine. Man this car is so fast. Taking it to the local engineer soon, so I can rego it. Cant wait to cruise in it.

Hope to buy some sunraisers for her, and give her a fresh lick of paint. got to make a bonnet though, as it didnt come with one. Will try to make one out of carbon fibre so as to keep the race look about it.

No joke, will post some pics soon of it back on aussie soil. Might look a bit strange but is really well engineered under that tin. Was found in florida by a bloke i know over there and cost me $100 US. Cheap as!

Dont waste your money Rob, its a laughing stock mate. There is no way that can be registered in Australia. Sell it on ebay as a paddock basher.

ok so how do you know its so quick? did u drive it on that flat?

race look...not really.

the wieght bias will be rediculous so even if this isnt all bullshit u will never get it regoed due to that.

also veiwing of tail lights in those locations will be cut off due to the hemiroid (get it) on the rear.

so seriously are you for real?

and something to hold the front end down... man, with the weight sitting so far back i'm suprised its sitting on all fours now.

you have a lot of work ahead of you my friend, but that rear end needs to be reconfigured or you could end up very badly hurt.

ummm, well it's certainly interesting. Very, umm, old school in a way I spose.

Robert, you live in possibly the only state where you have a chance of getting it registered. Afterall if Rod Hadfield can put a freakin fighter plane engine in a chev, why shouldn't you own a beetle with a straight 6 in the back?

I think you might find the conversion was done for the sand dunes or the drags. In which case, going around corners wasn't a high priority to the owner. You are going to have to rethink a few things. I own a buggy with an big subaru in the back and a rear mount radiator. It was an understeering pig from hell until I did some things to try and make it better. This Baja will be a lot worse than mine right from the word go. I'd think seriously about moving as many heavy things to the very front of the car as possible.

Ie. Battery, Radiator, spare tyre, and anything else you can practically move to try and help the weight transfere. Then you will need some very big torsion bars in the back and a big stiff sway bar to stop it rolling around so much. Next you need the softest, grippiest front tyres you can find. About 165/60r15s I'd say, with 18psi in them. On the back, find some sort of hard wide truck tyre and pump it up to 40psi.

Once that's all done, take it out somewhere safe and learn to drive it properly otherwise you will kill yourself in the first week.

If that bug eyed front hasn't got the lights separated from centre to centre at 81cm or more... thats not compliant either then.

ALOT of work... and if that hemi engine is too big to comply, it will totally fry the plans. fingers crossed... anything is possible though...

well, if its well engineered then you have some nice mounting points under the engine to bolt on wheels (instead of a wheelie bar) and take it to the drags :D

You could front mount the drivers seat into the bonnet space to balance out the weight.

i apologise if i have offended and this is a serious post but if it was my money id definatly spend it elsewhere.
