Beetle colour advise needed?
Ok, I have been rubbing back this Beetle for about 2 months with the intent if painting it the original savana beige, so it would look standard, and I
wouldn't have to paint under the bonnet.
Had the paint mixed at a local paint supplier yesterday, even took the glove box lid to check it with the paint chip, and all was cool.
Painted it yesterday, and the colour is not right, its a crappy looking brown, very disapointing.
My 2nd colour choice was ruby red, a bit more flashy and I have had a red Beetle before, I can't decide what to do, see if the brown looks better
when its all bolted together of change the colour to good old Ruby red now and cut my losses on the brown.
Here is a pic, see what you guys think?

Can't help much on the colour Dave,
but the access panels to the engine bay is a great idea. I'm getting some cut into the Oval as well.
VW car, VW engine ...... keepin it "real"

Savana Biege is one of my favorite VW colours. Maybe it will look better when the whole cars back together, Dave.
What about Gulf Blue? I reckon this colour really suites the 64/65/66 Beetles. Specially with two tone wheels in white and Gulf Blue

Thanks for the replys, Its not going to be a stocker, BRMs and 48 IDAs but the body will be stock, thats why I went for the stock colour. I have had a
bit more of a look and I think I will leave it beige for now.
Gulf blue is a great colour, my '64 single cab is that colour.

I'm not real keen on it, I prefer that blue... something or other...colour..(possibly Gulf).
But the Beige:-
As somone said to me " its a solid colour " it will look good on a lowered Beetle with flash wheels. Not many around this colour from memory
, so should be special...
I agree with your choice to stick it out.
Please send more pics as it progresses, Looking forward to it.

Dave,
Keep the beige for the CBs.
Ruby Red ( as per attached ) is the way to go.
It stands out in the snow and the door logo is an optional extra.
