Hi guys,

I have Broadband (Telstra) with a 256kb/s download speed, but yet when downloading something it only comes through at 27kb/s

Shud this be doing this?

Cheers

Download of 256kb/s = 32kB/s , your computer displays in bytes/second but isp's quote speeds in bits/second(it just sounds bigger). So 27kB/s is about right.

still adsl but runs up to 8000kbps download with 640kps uploads, plus you have to be closer to an exchange as well where yours is 256kbps download with 128 kbps upload you need to speed up but with bigpond that cost big $$$$ as they arent the cheapest :td:

Optus cable is getting me 1400KB/s (yep 1.4 megaBYTES per second) sustained tonight from the US.
Usually runs around 800KB/s + though.
I'd recommend it, although a little pricier than your average ADSL plan.

Remember your connection/download speed will only be as fast as your weakest link. If the downloading server allows a faster download you will get a faster speeds.
