stomberg dramas PLEASE HELP!
Hi there!. I have just built a 1776 engine for my 68 beetle. I am running a 009 distriuter (still with points) and a HQ 6cyl stromberg single throat.
thats where the shit hits the fan!!!. Both my Dad and I have both stripped it down each and built it. brand new carbie kit, and we just cant get it to
run right. We had it at what we thaught was good. I went for a trip up the coast and it run great, very economical, but around town and daily driving,
it blows black smoke and fuels up. now its running on 3 cylinders. dare say a fouled plug. but I have been told that formula vee race cars run these
carbies and that other people run them and have had no troubles. Can anyone please help me out with some advice with setting the stromy up for my
engine. iIt is still running holden jets. Does anyone know of the jet size for a vw engine such as mine?? would that be the problem?? I hope i havnt
burnt a valve!! ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT!! CHEERS MICK.

I run three HT Strombergs on the 3 litre Humber motor, you have it set up running far too rich, I would be trying a stromberg off say an EJ or an EH,
which has a smaller throat, however I think you can still get adjustable main jets. Ring Carburettor Service Co at Burwood, they have everything for
Strombergs, quite cheap & Tim would probably know off the top of his head what you need http://www.carburettorservice.com.au 97474066
