My first time....
Thought I would get around to posting some pics of my '76 Bug.
She is my first Bug and the first time I have restored any car for that matter. I have had her for quite some time, but due to having to pack up and
move house twice, time hasn't been on my side. The most frustrating part is that I have driven her only ONCE, and that was on the way home after I
bought her. Now settled and not going anywhere, I can finally get down and dirty :P
Im glad I found this place. Some of the info you guys have provided me so far has been tops! Im sure I'll be hanging around here
for..well....EVER!! :P
I started stripping her the day after I got her home.
The floor was pretty bad. Had pooling water under the drivers seat due to a leaky rear window seal. Had holes that I could get my fist through. She
is off at the moment having a new floor put in :P
Yukky brown inside. Not for long :P
The heart! Not much- yet.
The front. Body is pretty straight. A bit of rust around the engine lid seal area and a small patch we found once the body came off the pan at the
front/left. Channels are all sweet.

You have a good base there
Reckon that is a original motor there. Not bad after 30 yrs not to be swapped.
It has the rear (unusual) double heat runners on the manifold. All others have the single.
Near impossible to get and you wont find a replacement stock exhaust to fit it.
No drame put these aside and fit standard single pipe.
its more the fact that is a good sign of a solid original beetle.
OK... just notice you have headers.
Love to see a pic of how they join together.
If its not connected. Swap it for a standard. Some one out there in VW land would give a right testicle for that manifold.
Futue te ipsum!!!

'Tis indeed buzzbug..actuyally, it's still there :P When did you see it?
Matty..hoping to drop it down a bit, flared guards, big rims, nice paint. The budget wont allow for a massive rebuild of the motor at this stage,
that will come later. At this stage I would be stoked just to get her looking the part and on the road so I can take part in some cruises :P Im
reading a lot about this motor as I really want to know my Bug well and am hoping to some engine modifications myself in due course.
Bizarre...in laymans terms?? lol

Which club is that?
No way I will have the bug on the road for at least another year or two...maybe I could hitch a ride with someone :P
