Beach Buggy - SOLD -
Excuse me as I pirate my original ad, but this car has again been reduced as it MUST SELL NOW. Make a reasonable offer. Now priced at $7K
(22 Jan)
1961 VW Beach Buggy, J&S Fibreglass body (SWB)
This car was constructed by the previous owner, I purchased the project last year and completed the job. First registered as a buggy Oct 05, it has
an engineering certificate (ACT), and has driven less than 3000 miles since construction.
Mechanicals
- King pin front end
- Front rims 6” x 13, 185/70 tyres, heaps of tread
- Rear rims 7”x14, 8.5R14LT Bridgestone Desert Duelers, heaps of tread
- 1600cc sp stock aircooled engine, changed airfilter to suit body shape, added pre-heating piping to allow for cold-weather driving (easily
removed)
- valves (inlet, exhaust, guides), heads, fuel pump, front brakes done (receipts)
- clutch cable changed last weekend
- new battery cable (being manufactured as you read this)
- steel cage covering engine with opening ‘lid’ for access
- no rust
- drum brakes
- Harley Davidson front indicators
- third brake light
Other
- aftermarket seats (very comfy)
- new inertia belts
- fire extinguisher fitted to tunnel
- ½ roll cage
- sports steering wheel
- ACT rego to 2/07
The buggy is often driven in club cruises, including leading over 40 VWs in the recent Canberra VW Weekend cruise, and was recently driven to Temora
(NSW) and back with no problems. Often driven to work and driven every weekend when weather allows.
Regretful sale but genuine reason. Serious buyers only. $7K, enquiries by email or after 6pm on 0400 119 220. More pictures can be taken upon
request.

That's a nice looking buggy.
Some years ago I owned the only buggy registered in the ACT and on the road. I bought it in Wollongong and the ACT rego people didn't want it. They
put every hurdle in my way that they could. I found an engineer who helped me to jump through the hoops. I had to rent the drag strip near the airpirt
and do weaving and brake testing. I got 0.86G under brakes. I had to completely cage the engine and exhaust so that a finger poked through the mesh
could not touch the exhaust pipes. When I had the engineers report, I went to rego who took one look at the certificate, pulled out the rubber stamp
and said in effect, "Welcome to the ACT." All they wanted was to be able to pass the buck.
I'm glad to see that it's still possible to ACT rego a SWB buggy.

Thanks, yes it wasn't easy to get approved here, lots of hurdles. But all the hard work is done now, who wants a buggy?
Price is negotiable to an extent, and the car has to be sold soon.

Buggy has just been put onto eBay, and I'm happy to deal with any interested parties on here.
If anyone is interested in doing a deal with a Kombi dualcab to offset some of the $$, I'll gladly listen (depending on condition).
