another new pom in Melbourne

Hi, I am another pom that hes been lured to Australia by Ford, also working as a designer in the research center, and have just bought a really tatty white '70 beetle.

Usual sellers story, 1 owner (lady) original mileage etc, Thought I knew a bit about beetles having run one for 3 years when I worked for Volkswagen in Wolfsburg, turned out it had dropped a piston and was only running on 3 !!
I negotiated $300 off the asking price to get it through this strange - once in a lifetime roadworthy.

$2500 later it passed having had a top end rebuild, a new floor welded in, new brakes and a bit of bodywork, all done by Wolfsburg Automotive in Hoppers Crossing (very nice people)

I drove the old girl for the first time yesterday from Point Cook to Broadmeadows and back and loved every slow minute of it.

Bye Bye speeding fines.

Look forward to hearing form any other pommie beetle drivers in the VIC area .

Regards,

Scott
