Top 5
I dont think anyone has made a post like this so I think I'll start it off :
Name 5 of the most influential drag cars that have inspired your current rides/works in progress :
Mine in no particular order are
Chris Bubetz and the light blue 8 second Pro turbo from the mid 90's
Dave Butlers Supercharged Drag car
Rod Penroses first turbo car
Gene Bergs Black car
Peter Keegans car
There are heaps more but these seem to be the most influential for me at the time :thumb

Do they have to be VW?
T54
C'mon kids gather round,
there's a new sensation hitting town,
It's moving straight, low to the ground,
it'll pick you up when your feeling down.

Peter Keegan's Camel Filter Supercharged car,
Earl Kryger's N/A Aussie Gasser(ran N/A 11's in early '70s),
Bob McClure's "First in the nines 1978" BAE turbo bug,
Dean Lowry's "first N/A in the nines" Pro Stocker,
Mark Deacon's "Red Rider" Turbo Ghia (rear engined one).
Will try to find scans and photos.
Would like to put Bear's 11 sec 1700cc N/A Gold Rush sedan, and his Low 10s N/A Fiat in reserves.

This car was the first Pro Stock VW into the nines around 1988.
It had a 2800cc ARPM engine with a magneto and rotary barrel mechanical injection.
"Lovin' it!"

This car was an evolving project by Mark Deacon from Hawaii.
It ran as quick as 9.1 and 154mph back in the early eighties.

Man I really like those old cars, especially the paint jobs on Krygers and McClures cars. The first cars that influenced me were" Dixie Twister ,Pack
Man, Tasmanian Devil,Time Keeper and Super Pickle, the last one because it was the first race we entered and we beat him. That was 21 years ago, damn
how time flies. I'll ask my friend if he has any pics from back then, Mike
