I bought my whale tail off eBay for an awesome price, or try Fibre Fab! Hopefully SKEWtYpe3 can give you a hand though!

black beauty: I don't mean to sound rude or disrespectful but why do you always make reference to your illness?? I come on this forum to talk VW's and learn from others so that I can get my Bug on the road - not to read about other peoples problems. We all have problems and some are sure to be worse than your own. I hope you get better mate and get that Bug looking and running the way you want it, but I just don't see the need to continually harp on the negatives in life.

it will cost a bit to get it up north, try asking around at you local VW mechanics
keep in touch if u cant find one closer to you
to be honest i dont realy want to hike it to australia post, wrap etc...........
there is sure to be one near you but you will need to ask, they arent popular anymore because they are very 'dated' and are generaly thrown out.

ha ha ha ha ha.........vw mechanics around here thats a laugh. Once long ago there was one here now he's gone so the closesest mechanic for a vw is in Townsville, and i ain't game enough to drive this car on the highway untile the rust is repaired, when that will happen ia anyones guess. The department of transport love pulling old cars over up here and putting them on the shaker. They are savage up here thats why my driving is down to a minuim,i only drive somewhere if i have to.I'd be lookin at spending $600 for a whale tail in Townsville as i've already tried that option and thats way outta my price range.

Try the local tip... serious... I was able to pick one up down here for $50 a little while back. :tu:

As Ivan said, a lot of them get thrown in the rubbish because theyre not really considered fashionable or even kosher anymore... like most silly 80's fads...

Which brings me to ask... anyone know where I can obtain hammer-pants?? :dork:

Can someone plz explain to me what the hell is an op shop? I'm pretty sure we don't have one here whatever it is.The tip is outta the question as they don't allow car bodies at the tip, if i've herd correctly that is,i know i sound kinda stupid. My chances of finding a whale tail around here are very slim to non exsistant.

Black Beauty - Their are alot of sarcastic people around here who think they know best, so dont let it get to you. Do your car how you want to do it, not how others 'think' you should.

Ok, an Op Shop is an oppertunity store which is a Charity run second hand store (and no, you wont find a whale tail there). You wont find them at the tip either, because whale tails ARE still fashionable, depending on what look you wish to go for, or if you would like a little extra room in the rear for a conversion (which is why i have one on my car). There are members here that still have them, try this link, and contact one of the members who have stated they have one:

http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=58918

Best of luck!

Sarcastic my ass!... I did find a perfectly good whaletail at the tip not more than 4 months ago, which as I said I could get cheap as chips!... i just chose to leave it there cos *IMHO* that is where they belong...

I was believe it or not actually giving black beauty a possible avenue to explore! :tu:

That is all from me... Guten Tag.

thanks for the input, but like i said before the tip is outta the question as they don't allow car bodies to be dumped there, besides it's a very small tip and the odds of finding a whale tail there is 1 in a million. And before ya ask me to try the wreckers here,my uncle owns the only wrecking yard here and well he and i don't exactly get along putting it simply. If he had a whale tail for a beetle here, he wouldn't exactly sell it to me.

The bug is located in Home Hill. It's got good bumpers front and back,no motor as i ripped it out but i can supply my old 1500 motor which needs to be fixed ie lack of compression in 2 cylinders 80psi in one and the other has 10 psi the other 2 have 137 psi. comes with low back seats good carpet, good floor pan looks like it has been hit with killrust, a lil surface rust on both a pillers but nothing has broken through.Needs to be completely restored, mag rims, good door trims, the passenger window has fallen inside the door but isn't broken.no roof lining.I don't want anything for it really but if ya pay for the transport costs you can have it. It is pink in colour.the sills would have to be replaced. I payed $500 for it just for the motor but i really don't care if i give it away to someone who would like to restore it.
