T3 engine cuts out.

My 85 T3, with rebuilt motor and new heads has an intermitent engine drop dead which the mechanic can't find. Hence my user name! Moving ignition wiring seems to do a temp fix but it soon stops again. Distributor to idle stabiliser wires show continuity. What can I do as it is Christmas close down!
Thanks in advance.

I had something similar

Would drive along and the car would die - but oil/gen lights would'nt come on.

Was the electronic ignition cutting out.

For $100 - 200 i would wack a 009 and points in and see if that fixes it

Oh.... welcome to the fun house

G'day Greedy53 and Bizzare, thanks for the tips. I have now found the gremlin, residing in the allegedly waterproof box on top of the coil containing two relays. Corroded contacts on these and an intermitent voltage path, noticed when I moved wires with motor running, I could hear a spark jump. Corrosion from blown water pump spraying coolant all over engine bay some years ago must have done that! Bug..r!
Engine now running sweetly, fingers crossed.
