hi

the more is not merrier.

I think you should re-think some of your setup.
2x sony 2way 6"s
2x kenwood 4way 6"s
2x fusion 3way 6x9s
1x boss 2chan 500w amp
2x jensen tweeters in front
2x super piezo 300w tweeters in rear

- i rkn dump all this shit.
first of all 6x9's suck- they bend under power and become distorted and are just shit.
boss amp - enough said
sony = sorny emplodes (rubbish)
jensen - even worse than boss (shitty strathfield crap)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
if u want big punchy bass, keep ur 12's, look into getting a good set of splits. personally jaycars response 6.5" kevlar splits are very good bang for buck. and maybe could add some 8" subs up front for extra boom.u wanna make sure that everything is powered properly or it's just a waste, thats why boss amps are shit, they claim like 1000watts (250w per channel) yet usually are only around 60wrms per channel.

The boss amp wont last super long, enjoy it while it lasts then thing about something a bit more long term. It can be very tempting to buy cheaper brands.... response amps would have to be the most reasonably priced amps on the market with a good rep.

As vwkid said above, ultimately if you are happy that is the most important thing.

I feel that there is no need for so many components especially with all the two way/three way/four way speakers. If you were only running one pair of speakers, then having a pair of two ways could be acceptable to cover the mid bass (from the woofer) and highs from the in-built "tweeter". However if you have the ability to install a quality set of splits (woofer separate to tweeter), you will be much better off as any 2,3,4 (or more) way speakers compromise the frequency response compared to having the speakers separate.

Once you start to do some more research as to what constitutes good quality car audio in terms of sound quality (not knocking you remember, just providing advice)....you start to realise how important the front stage is. My system in my old ragtop competed really well in a few sound quality comps and more than held its own in terms of overall volume (did not compete in SPL classes though).....I made custom kick panels (sealed except for a tuned port) which housed a pair of Dynaudio 240GT splits - this was the biggest investment of the entire system as it is the most important part. Next most expensive was the Audio System 4 channel amp (two channels bridged to the eclipse sub, and the other two channels to the splits).....the alpine headunit with time correction and other features important in accurately tuning a system.

Hope this helps a little, but as I said I'm stoked if you are happy!

By the way, as an Audiologist, do your best to conserve your hearing now - we all feel invincible when young, but hearing loss will often only become obvious at 40yrs plus. Experiencing tinnitus (tin-eye-tis) after loud noise exposure is one of the body's ways of telling you that your cochlear outer hair cells have just copped a beating! Do it too many times and the hair cells don't recover - then your missus will get up you for saying "huh?" or "what did you say?" all the time :)

That's my 2c (well probably more like $20 judging by how much crap I just wrote!)

definitely check out caraudioaustralia.com - you will learn a lot.
