This engine is a prototype flat four being built by JT,
and Greg Anderson from Pro Machining Ltd in New Zealand.
http://www.pro-machining.com/
It will be 2700cc using a 84mm stroke crank that has 5 main bearings,
and uses a roller camshaft with 60mm main journals.
Heads will be also a custom item from Joe Deppe in Indy,
and the guys will be able to use digitized progamming to CNC the inlet and exhaust ports
to attain flow levels of US pro stock cylinderheads.
Awesome stuff, and so close to home....can't wait to see those heads!!

one question though, why start with a whole new block and crank when the new subaru EJ25 produces 300hp from the factory (I know it's turbo but even
still)? Wouldn't 16 valve heads and a stroker crank in that motor produce the same horsepower at a much lower price?
Is there a 2v per cyl limit on the class or something?
Also, the Subaru already has 5 bearings in the block.
Just a thought...

I have never seen a fast N/A Sube( although they should be on paper).
This class is generally a normally aspirated class, and has restrictions in capacity for boost, or 4 valves per cylinder.

Essentially, we started this project because JT was telling me about the problems he was having with his current engine. The whole engine block
configureation was at its limit. So we decided to go ahead and try something ourselves.
WE are working on the heads at present and will have some photos available shortly.

Still having the odd problem getting logged on. Seems to have a lot to do with the time of day. Anyway....
Here are some progress photos of the Crank. Only needs oil holes, lightening holes through bigends and heat treating/grinding now.
We have managed to get the weight down to 25.5lbs / 11.59 kg.
The head casting shown, is our second option and has been supplied by Joe Deppe of Indy.
The head casting of our first option will be ready next week. Will have pics then.

Barrels
For today's update, here's a shot of the barrels.
The plan is to have these done by the end of the weekend and start getting the heads bolted up next week.
There's going to be 6 studs on each cylinder. We want to make sure we keep it nicely sealed. ;D

Funding...
We've got the head back from casting. Nothing to show there just yet. Hope to have some machining done on this over the weekend.
This is one of those projects that is done in our "spare" time. We would really like to get this project done a whole lot sooner, so anyone out
there has any thought on where we can get funding so that we can work on this full time. Any ideas would be gratefully recieved. We don't want this
turning into a lifetime project and never getting finished or realising its full potential.

Hats off to you Promach...this is great seeing a project as it starts. Can't imagine to many doing what your doing.

We don't have dollars worked out yet, but will let you know when we do.
There will be fins around the bores to help with cooling, have to look at the cooling around the intake/exhaust later. Running the motor on alcohol
helps with removing a lot of heat.
The first motor will be going into JT's midget. This is purely a straight out race motor, not necessarily just for drag.
With the current bolt pattern in the head, 4.6 pistons are no problem, if I push them out we can have 5".
