He is looking for the gearbox nose cone NOT the body nose cone
Don't let body work get in the way of real suspension travel

Have you checked out the front gearbox mount first
There are usually 2 types
the wrap around and the later type
have a look be fore you scrounge around for a nose cone
What year model is the car ????

I realised you were talking about the gearbox nose cone
The best and easiest way to fix this is to get the aftermarket mount and weld it into position get a dummy empty 40hp tunnel gearbox to try it
out and set up in correct position
probally easier than finding a split window 40hp tunnel gearbox nose cone
You have to pull the motor and gearbox anyway to fit the nose cone, so if you do the new welded mount then you can fit any later model gearbox
to the car
I know a VW shop that can do this for you if you dont have access to welding gear and bits etc etc

You can buy the nose cone and hockey stick from CIP in the US all new. Doing it this way causes the front of the trans to sit a little too high, and
therefore the rear tinware to sit below the engine bay seal by about an inch.
Buy the weld in mount from Wolfsburg West, and do it that way, or EMPI also sell a conversion piece you can use with the 40hp trans, but its solid, so
a little noisy, but in my opinion better than everything being at an angle in there

Hey
I've been down this route with my 56 oval I didn't want to cut the cast original mount to make room for the later weld in type so I've gone with
the bus nose cone. The only problem is it will make the rear of the engine hang a little lower as Andy in the above post quite rightly pointed out,
however I'll wait to see how bad once i dummy assembly my engine into the oval. I did buy the empi solid mount but its a piece of crap and will cause
heaps of noise through the tunnel also prematurely wear the internals of the gear box due to vibration if not cracking the nose cone later on. I only
went this route so not to distroy a very original floor pan.
Hope this helps clear a few points up at the end of the day its your call

i first fitted a 40hp gearbox to a 58 beetle (not oval mind you) in about 1967,
for a guy
i just redrilled the mount holes on the flat gerbox front mount for the body angle to be resonably aligned.
some memory i have !!
hope this helps as is a 10 min job but i may have also packed in some rubber to seal off?
that part i may be confusing fitting a 40 hp box to 36 splitty
want any vw bits old but like me, Made in Germany!!!
