EJ wont fire
SO the EJ22 is in the buggy, and
I turn ignition on, the fuel pump cycles, I hear the relay click, the engine tuns over, but wont fire.
It ran for half a second the other day before I had all the breather lines hooked up, now that they are it wont fire at all.
The engine is turning over a little slowly, could this be the problem??

If it's turning over a little slowly due to low battery voltage...then yes that could be why. How come it only ran for half a second the first time??
Have you checked for fault codes??

only ran for half a second because I didnt have any of the vacumn/air lines hooked up.
I have checked for spark at one of the plugs and fuel at the inlet and both are fine!
No fault codes came up, but as it only ran for half a second,would it have time to register??

how long has the engine been sitting?
If it has been a while, it is common for the injectors to get stuck shut due the laquer in the fuel sticking the pintle shut. Pull the injectors out
and get then professionally cleaned and flow tested

Firstly charge your battery up, or at least jump start the things. If it cracks slowly then it will not start as MickH said. The EJ uses a crank
sensor and a cam angle sensor and needs to get a synco before it will fire. In order to get a sink it will need approx 120 RPM. If it is cranking
slowly then it will not be getting this which will stop it from firing.
You need it to run before you can get the fault codes.
Ok that being said
If you turn the ignition on and the power relay clicks and the fuel pump cycles then the ECU is happy that it is getting told it has power. Next check
the following:
- That the start signal wire is hooked up to the started motor or the start side of ignition switch. No signal will result in similiar symptoms.
- Next treat it just like a VW, pull a plug lead and check it has spark. If it has spark, turn it over for a while then pull a plug. If the injectors
are working then the plugs will be wet. Now you should be looking at spark or fuel.
- If fuel as Col said the injectors need a clean, if spark then it can only be the ecu or ignitor.

This might sound obvious....clean your plugs, I bet they are wet. I still think that my conversion took a month longer than it should because when you
do not have the engine running properly and especially with less than 12v from the battery, those coils will fire weak and the engine floods the plugs
with fuel. Good luck.
