just got pulled over for no seat belt in the old mans falcon ute and it cost me $200 and 6 demerit points!

then he yellow stickered the car because of an oil leak! i park it on concrete and never have oil leaks left behind!

I got pulled over in the beetle once for a 'random' vehicle check and the RTA and the police went right over it...checked absolutly everything. They gave me an infringement for 'allowing engine oil to leak on the road' There was only a slight damp section on the motor but not a drop was on the ground when they inspected it.

I took it to my mechanic who said the oil was from the gearbox and cleared the defect becasue it was not 'engine oil' as the expert RTA and Police officers thought.

Sorry to go along with the others kevo but I reckon ya got off light, wearing a seat belt is the only way to go, strange that they had to make it law for people to protect themselves. As for the oil leak, well I'm not there so yeah, sounds a bit tough

Yep... your ass has been handed to you on a platter and quite rightly.

Speeding is against the law... you speed... you get pulled over and fined.

same deal with the seatbelts... if the fuzz went soft on you just cos it was "only a seatbelt offence" then what does that make them look like?... useless chickenshit thats what!

So good on em! :tu:

Before ya drive without a seatbelt then get caught and call the cops dickheads, remember, they, along with firies like Ash and carrots like meself will be the ones cleaning your ass off the road if you get pwn3d and go through the windscreen. :puke

As for defecting it on an oil leak, that sounds a bit assy and certainly would piss me off... but then again when ya look at it from 2G's point of view I guess it is understandable. Depends on the size of the leak I suppose...

Thats the great thing about driving a Kombi tho, no matter how much oil it leaks, it ends upp sucked onto the back instead of dripped on the road!

Where im living in the US, its law to wear a seatbelt, but you cant get pulled over for it if you are doing nothing else wrong, so nobody wears them.
In the 4 months i've been here, I have seen at least 20 accidents on the news, where people have been thrown from the vehicle and killed... I think our laws on that are for our own good.
As far as unroadworthies go, i've had plenty, and a lot by one cop! I didnt agree with him, or any of the others, but the more I argued etc the worse the fines got. They dont have to prove anything is unroadworthy,if they are concerned for safety, and oil sweating from an engine or only having 80mm ground clearance seems to be reason for concern, they sticker it andsend you for a RW inspection. It gets expensive after the 4th time by one cop, and eventually you comply, instead of lowering your car upon returning from the RTA!!

It is my experience, that if you get done & there is no question your in the wrong, the correct & only responses should be:
Yes sir, no sir & thank you sir.

The minute you get on to;
"haven't you got better things to do" ,"why don't you go after real criminals" or the old favourite " my taxes pay your wages", be assured he will make time for you :P

Down here in Tassie, an old timer was driving home back towards New Norfolk just recently and managed to slide off the newly wet road and thumped the embankment.

The car was an older (I think) Toyota Corona and appeared driveable and quite repairable.

Sadly, the driver was not repairable and very dead since he didnt have a seatbelt on.

Thats how it goes.

I believe the ad goes:

"Wear the seatbelt, or wear the fine."

If you choose not to wear a seatbelt (and benefit from its inherent ability to save your life), I personally do not wish to rag on you, but that's what the law is, so wear the fine and don't complain.

Hey i'm applying to become one of those dickheads that tell people to wear their seatbelts. Tough shit, you got caught! Stop crying about it... I got booked for talking on a mobile phone while driving, even though i was stopped in a carpark... THAT is something to complain about. Not wearing your seatbelt however is something that could mean the last thing you see is the bitumen before it tears your face off. Hate to sound harsh, but welcome to Earth.

And yes... Carrot = SES peoples!

Yep.. carrot = SES people... and we also attend road crashes as well as storms/bushfires... not all units do... depends upon the area... some places it's soley up to Ambulance Rescue.

And it is also true that we have flash Toyotas... and certain unit's on this coast seem to have a disposition to sinking the occasional expensive Toyota! :duh

The Cops Blocked the Road in Healesville once and gave everyone Defects, they couldn't bust my Immaculate 5 year old Fairmont Ghia so they got me to leave the washers and wipers going until it ran out of water, then they gave me a Defect for " inoperable washer bottle", I thought they were Dead Set CuntStables.

I still do and that was 16 years ago.

Until that day I trusted the Police, but after that Bullshit I've never trusted them.

Also. Yeah put your Seat Belt on.

Also they are reported to have a camera ( in NSW ) which scans the numberplate in a fraction of a second and reports to the Highway guys computer that the car is unregistered. You may think the car IS registered but it has been cancelled due to unpaid parking infringements etc. HAVE YOU ANY UNPAID FINES??!! If pulled over with this situation get ready to walk and make sure you have a fat wallet!

Not defending some cops actions but in 800 km return journey to Tamworth on the weekend, the majority of "speedsters" on the Putty Road/New England Hwy was a mixture of Red "P"s and 4wd vehicles. Most drivers stuck to +5 km over the limit but it was surprising just how many small buzz boxes (sorry, not really having a go at the smaller more fuel efficient chariots !!!! ) went past at 120 plus on the 100 zones. Incidently, quite a number of them were of the young female variety! Also, the same category of drivers had no respect for the reduced roadworks speed zones.
