Tyre kicking....
Just a quick note;
sellers love a free bump or a positive comment, but if you are not seriously enquiring about a car please don't waste people's time by asking for
special deals and the like.
I know a few people are getting frustrated with this sort of thing, so in the interest of keeping everyone smiley I thought it'd be worth saying what
a few people have been thinking out loud.
Thanx in advance for your consideration.
P.s. negative comments about cars are of course unneeded.

Well... surely 8 out of every 10 comments are positive and would surely have no detrimental effect and in same cases would even help a sale along?
And also look at it this way... every comment is a free (and legitimate) bump for ones add!  
Of course some folk frown on the practice of bumping in itself but I'm not one of em so I wont even go there and open up that can...
And another thing... allowing commenting makes things so much easier for the seller. I know when I am selling an item, I prefer somebody to enquire in
the for sale thread so I can answer once and not have to do so again, than be bombarded with multiple u2u's asking more or less the same thing...
But anyway... there's my two bob so I'm outta here.

Must agree with Pete here. How many of the ones asking for a discount ANYWHERE would like their boss to ask each week if he could discount their
wages. If the price seems a bit steep then go elswhere and see if there is a better price. Somewhere along the line someone pays and what seems a
better price or deal is offset by the time and petrol wasted in doing so.
Back around 1984, I sold a 72 Square. The person asked if I could give him a better price so I added the $300 or so on for the new rego. He was
then glad to take it at the advertised price!

I disagree.
When I am going to buy something I usually shop for the best price or haggle as hard as I can for the item. Especially larger ticket items. I never
pay retail for whitegoods, etc.
I do not however go the whole bargain and the 'c'mon pete giss a deal...' if I am not interested. I think this is the real clincher.
I have bought a number of vehicles for under half the advertised price.
The fair price at the end of the day is one which a purchaser is willing to pay and the seller willing to sell.
My boss doesnt ask to discount my wages each week, just each year at review when I want lots, he wants to give none and the fair price is the one we
agree on. If I dont like it I can take my services elsewhere, if he doesn't he can try to hire someone else.
1500s, I bet you have haggled of shopped around.....
So c'mon Pete, giss a deal...... :kiss (nah, I actaully dont want a buggy- wife, 2kids and a dog wont fit..)

I don't want to talk about wages, that doesn't even relate. A fair days pay for a fair days work is a lot different to market value for a
commodity/asset...and at the end of the day that's what a purchase price mostly equals.
KKK, I've offered a stunning deal.
BTW, the buggy's a 4 seater. it would easily fit the wife, 2 kids and the dog.

kkk's got it in the bag... if one is genuinely interested then what harm can come from a bit of honest haggling???... the worst that can happen is
the seller says no...
That said, when you have people coming in and saying "HEY... that's a pile of shit... it aint worth that much!.. I'll give ya $300 for it!" or
things to that effect, that is taking it overboard and ammounts almost to sabotage. :o

"Honest haggling" can be done over the phone or in person,between the seller and potential buyer.It SHOULDN'T be done on the forum,as it is a
private matter...thats what contact numbers are for...
