Wider fenders on a type3 notch? baja or street

How would one go about getting more width and height on the fenders of a notch to acommadate larger wheels and tyres. Not sure if i want to go the baja look or just widen the track and keep it low for a beefier look. Ive got no skills yet in fibreglassing but Can use a tig welder. My only thought at the moment is to use add-on guards like that on the torana slr5000 or some of the later 4x4's getting around. A bit of bog to meld the seams and a bit of cutting of the original guards etc. Tell me if iv'e got it wrong already.

THanks

Any advice would be apreciated

Richard
