Experience with Volkkommen?
Hey, im going to get some relatively expensive (compared to what my budget allows me anyways) work done by vollkommen, and just wondering what
good/bad experience anyone has had with them? am i leaving my baby in the right hands? im just relatively new to the "scene" and i have not sussed
out all the options yet, so any help u guys give me will be great!
p.s. im going to get them to reco my tp 1600 pancake.

yeh i know they can build insane rides, but just are they good as a workshop? do they take a while to finish the job?charge reasonably?etc etc

yes, i know that you normally get what you paid for. im just wondering if i should deal with vollkommen with my reco thats all. like if anyone has
done that with them and if they did a real nice job or whatever, you know?
cliched sayings found in fortune cookies can only help me with so much with the advice that im actually after.

It all comes down to the dollar.
If you want a nice engine with all new parts and powdercoated tinware it costs.
If you just want new bearing, reco heads and stick on the old tinware well its cheaper.
Both shops have been around sinse the day dot and both have built nice cars, they both also reco engines.
Ring em both compair price and away you go.

I think as both are forum contributors and they appear to do very good work and they have been around for ever you are unlikely to find someone
bagging them.
It is hard to say what you will get for your $$$ as you really need to compare apples with apples.
I know that doesnt say 'Go with volks_____' but the difficulty is that each customer is different. Personally I think you should talk to both, then
make your decision based on the quotes and what they include. It is also hard to give a definitive quote without a teardown. Best bet is to talk to
them and go with whomever you are happy with.

you have picked two of the best shops around:thumb
both do excellent work therfore both will charge accordingly:thumb
this one really comes down to the flip of a double headed coin ie you cannot loose whichever one of these you end up taking your donk to

If you want an example of a restored Bug that Volkommen did in Melb, ask Jay1965. her white beetle (Wolf) was doneby them and is great.
Although I am sure that Volkspower have done some good rides as well, I am in QLD and its a wee bit hard to get there or see what they have done.

a reco's cost really is determined by you budget
IMHO a good reco from a shop you would expect no change out of $3000 for a bullet proof "street" motor you can pay upwards of 10g's

what penguin said. jays ride is a beauty and you would never beleive how many years it has been since the resto if you saw the car in person, i met
jay on my first vw outing in around 2000 and wolf had already been restored then i think and is looking just as good today. their custom work is also
amazing, not only their type 3s but also their lowrider bikes, which are works of art in themselves. definitely guys with an eye for detail!

For engine bottom, top, exhaust, carbies, distributor, clutch, fuel pump, alternator, starter - everything reco or renewed back to original, may cost
you up to $5k.

.volkspower are the only ones i have delt with so far they are friendly and work with you all the way through. though i haven't got my engine recoed
yet. they are good to deal with and their pricing are in the norms. Now i'm looking at buying a new engine and same as you my options are the men or
power. i'd say i'll go to men as i have never delt with em but heard lots of good stuff as well as seen many of their cars in the mag with good
ratings. so i'm not affraid to givem a go
