Spent a few hours trying to do it without cutting a hole on the first bus i did, its pretty much impossible because you will have to clamp on the clamp then twist it not really tight enough if you can twist it.

I just drilled two holes with the hole saw bit for a drill, that was on the first door because i didnt quite get the allignment right, 2nd door was only one small hole.

If you drill the hole/grind out a hole it makes installing the kit a breeze, took me about 15mins to install each actuator on my 2nd bus.

It should be possible to keep the holes just large enough to fit the end of a screwdriver through, assuming you can reach around to hold the clamp in place while you do it up. That's how I did my kombi anyway.

i'm using mess accurator. they are swiss made and so far the best i have seen (pretty strong good for old mechanisms) check out a1electrics.com they have info on it. they also caree a power window kit for beetles.

sorry about the similar posts they were posted when the server was going through a hard time.
like i said i cut a whole through the door and all was installed in 20 mins. add another 20 mins and i had my
remote central locking kit installed. ( and i know nothing about auto electrics)
pretty proud of myself. the only problem is that i probably wired one of the remote console improperly as now i have no sound through my speakers. but it would be an easy fix

next step is to customise my door panels and slowly work my way through making kickpanels out of fiberglass.
