yar........was in the green bug towards the end of it all.....still is in there actually
as reccommended worked with full welded heads, chevy springs with 650pds.......
from memory the Spikak moded 48s ended up with 46mm venturis, running up around the 9500 rpm mark, doing bugger all till 6000, even with the heads
designed for circuits rather than all out dragging.........
What ARE you up to Craig?........
oh yeah, some 52mm berg throttle bodies just came up on the samba........$700US

The 52 IDF Gene Berg numbers should do the trick for your new toy, I mean ideas.

Craig,
Why wouldn't you go with what you know and choose one of Stan Pobjoy's cams?
What lifters would you use?

Hey guys,
I also ran that cam in our dragster, shifted it at 7800,ran pretty good. We tried both the kb 424 and the 425,not much measurable
differance in performance. Engine was 2275 (same engine that is now my turbo engine) Superflow heads,48x40 valves. When carburated was 42 mm
venturies, was more tunable than the large ones we tried ( we tried 40 - 48 's). You will need heavy valve springs (k800) Mike

I think when you get to the specs of a full on drag cam they are all about the same, you're pretty much at the end of the road:thumb

Craig, smaller is better in most cases
unless you are going to be reving the engine over 8000rpm.
Bigger cams will make more power, but probably outside where you will use it.
If your engine is pulling to 8000 now then stick with a cam similar to what you have....unless you add some stroke(yeah, right!)

add stroke.......then I would use a cam that had peak power at about 6000rpm :thumb
