Type 3 Square

Here is a pic of the 1968 Square I bought on the weekend. Originally from Melbourne, the car has been living at Nanango in Qld where I collected it from.

Hardly any rust, no accident damage, new brakes and running.

This will become my new daily by about mid-2007. The Double Cab will go onto historic plates and earn a nice rest in a dry garage, and only used for the odd day trip and VW show.

Early Squares are very neat units. Another Type 3 convert.

Cheers
Craig

Welcome to the club and nice find, yeah they are great to drive, I am thinking of putting mine back in the shed for another year at the end of April.

Like the square Craig, looks nice and straight...Excellent choice in daily driver(slightly biased) heaps of room and third gear 'round town is hard to beat. Is it a 1600 twin carby with discs up front or you still get drums with that? Enjoy :).. oh yeah if you want to give me a call regarding time to pick up those beetle seats this weekend i'll be home this evening. cheers, Adam

Drums all round, but a front disc conversion may be on the cards. I was looking for the wide 5 stud pattern, as I prefer the look, so I wasn't too phased having to stay with drums. 1600 twin carbie should pull nicely. Everything is covered in red country farm dust, so I'm hoping the motor still has some good miles in it and hasn't been dusted (oil bath was still on and carbies were clean so good sign). I'm impressed with the amount of room for storage.

I'll buzz you on the mobile tomorrow Adam.
