This is my Volkswagen, there are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my Volkswagen is useless, without my Volkswagen, I am useless.

depends
technically.........
You are allowed a 15% increase. A 1962 was a 1200 so a 1776 is greater than a 1200 by almost 50%
Yes for the disc breaks.
Now.... i doubt anyone "looking" at the car would know the difference. But as it will need a blue slip they will do a motor check and i reckon they
will see the motor "should" be a 1600.
A 1962 with a 1600 should have disc breaks added.
I would WANT disc breaks in a 1962 with a 1776

I agree with Bizarre. Get it disc braked and get it engineered. Sure the rego inspector probably won't know a 1776 from a dual port 1300, but for
peace of mind and insurance that won't get cancelled, do it properly. Also, you can talk to the engineer about giving you the potential for a 1916 or
larger in the future when he writes out your certificate.
