Where can I get my Scintilla Magneto tested?


Where can I get it tested ?...... at the auto electrician?

do they stop working or are they reliable?

This is for a VW generator, that I can't seem to get started :jesus

Craig,
Hardimans is the place, they can test it, and rebuild it for you if required.
Magnetos go off sitting around, the original coil pack insulation brakes down with age, and magnets lose charge, this can all be fixed by Hardimans, mine cost around $800 to do.
I have never seen a good original magneto at a swap meet that gave you a proper kick when you grab a plug lead and turned the mag over, they all need a rebuild.

If you just want to see if it is working,
put it in a lathe on slow speed with some plugs in the leads.

Also try
"Burner Magnetos" up here in QLD. John Payne is the contact.
He will probably get the parts from Hardimans though.

I have a good race one here for $200.
