Just curious to know how many Type 3's out there still running the original D-Jetronic FI system?
Cheers

i'd say not many. I know a few people who had theirs swapped to carbs coz they had issues. I even have one of those motors in my shed.
funny thing is, many of the parts are still available on the web. http://www2.cip1.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1512

Having a few issues myself (leaking injector, clagged out air temp sensor) Has anyone dealt with spare parts dealers in the US? Seem to be able to
source just about anything for the FI motor and works out fairly reasonable. Trying to resist the soft option and resort to carbs.
Cheers

If you do "take the soft option" I take the EFI off your hands....can't see you having any probs with the dealers in the US though....:thumb

When I had my EFI squareback (stock engine) I put a Microtech fuel only computer on it and it worked a treat.
No need to go OS when when Australia make the best computers on the market, plus you can get injectors, pumps all locally, and if you have trouble
with the throttle body convert it to a bigger local jobbie.
Forgot to say that when my pump died, I put in a Commodore turbo unit and it did the trick, not to expensive either.
I was planning for a turbo upgrade thus the Microtech and turbo pump.
but sold the square unfortunately

What sort of $$$ for the Microtech setup and what bits do u get for your dosh? Is there a particular model to suit the type 3 motor?

Hey Dave,
It was a few years ago but it was the current fuel only computer from Microtech at the time, can't even remember how much it cost me, goes to show
how long it's been.
Give Microtech a call and they can tell you the price.
Microtech's are made to run any engine, so when you order it they will need to know some details about your engine so that it can be setup to work
with the hardware that your running.
Then it's just a matter of wiring it up and getting a good dyno tuner to tune it correctly (Microtech will set a base program so that your motor will
run when first fired up)
If your going to go down this route and your funds can support it, get rid of the points distributor and put in a crank angle dizzy from say a magna
(use the search function as it has been covered in depth) and go the fuel and ignition computer. It will open up options for you if you want to go
turbo or a big cam etc later on.
Cheers
