wanted--URGENTLY--clutch pedal or cluster Brisvegas /Dipswich/ Gold coast
Hi everyone,
In spite of spending just short of a grand one week ago getting some work done which included a new clutch cable and repairs---(not specified but
charged for) to the clutch pedal , which I didn't even know was crook.AAAAARRRRRRRGGHP--movin on------
I found myself on Saterday morning in a shopping centre car park - boing noise---pedal to the metal --and no farkin clutch --just after we'd done
the shoppin so the meat could go crook ---of course.
The end shot is I took the pedal cluster out today when I had chance to cool down,( thus assuring that my car had at least a couple of days to live)
and the just repaired clutch pedal is rooted.---please see pic below-----

the car has a 62 floorpan which has the clutch cable going down the left hand side (as you face the front) of the central tunnel , I believe some of
the later ones go go down the right so I'm guessin that the shank and cable hook of the pedal differ.
I also need the brake pedal spring as the one on is pig rooted sideways.
The endshot is I need a the whole pedal cluster ---or ---the clutch pedal and the brake pedal spring URGENTLY.
I doubt I'm going to be able to rely on the workshop who, quite bluntly, stuffed this up in the first place so initialy I'm just gonna get on with
it myself
PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP.
NO BEER TODAY
Cheers , Al .

So far as I know, ALL clutch cables were designed for LHD
cars,
so the cable is always on the LHS...
there are two different cable ends....
so, You may need a different cable if you use the late pedal cluster..
cheers

Lee,I have just done a Left Hand drive conversion on a 59 pan,and had to cut the tunnel open to shift the tube over to the LH side. The metal pressing
that the clutch tube is welded to,is made so the tube can be welded at either side.

Ok so there is no confusion and no one is calling anyone a liar due to statements made on the internet.....
Clutch cables on the early pedal assemblies usually go down the opposite side of the tunnel at the pedal end to the later pedal assembly.
Having down quite a few conversions I can say this for a fact.
There are predominately two types of T1 pedal assemblies in OZ (yes I know there are variations but we are talking main types here)
1 - Cast unit with curved pedals, found in pre 67 beetles and has a linkage operated accel pedal. These have the clutch cable hook closest to the
drivers (RHS) of the tunnel.
2 - Steel unit with straight pedals, these have a roller accel pedal linkage (not roller pedal like some real early beetles). These have the clutch
cable hook further over to the passengers side of the tunnel.
You can not just bolt a late pedal assembly into an early pan, most likely it will not fit.
HOWEVER .. I will not say this with 100% certainty in your case, with some T1 pans it will vary. You can get odd pedal assemblies which have clutch
hooks in the early location but are the later style pedal.
I hope this helps, in short get a cast unit it will fit straight in.

Hi Buggy Brad,
Thanks for the info---most helpfull--I have posted a pic of the pedalset in situ--as the handbrake only took pics of the broken bit and not the entire
cluster while it was out------(don't ask)-----anyway as you can see this one has cast pedals with the cable hook on what appears to be the left hand
side and this is the one --and spring thingo or complete cluster that I'm after.
And just for the record the statement "AH --HA-- so I've been lied to again-- all left handers eh ?? "was a question so please don't take what I
write out of context--and thanks again for the info,
Still no beer,
Regards,
Al.
