any old holden gts fans on here?
just picked up a pair of old HT/HK/HG gts hubcaps today, when i gave them a wash i noticed that whilst one was black as per normal, the other appeared
to be painted silver, anyoen seen this before? is it for a specific model?
thanks
Ryan

I love the old Monaros. There are slight differences from model to model with the caps eg fake wheel nuts screwed or riveted, center insignia painted
red or black etc.
The silver sections should be polished and the dark grey sections are painted. I restored a set for a friends HK307 GTS a few years back.

ok, both have the red insignia and both are chrome, its just that one has black painted sections and rivets, the other has silver painted sections and
screws, so its not the all over paint pov-pac, just seemingly a different colour (silver) in the sections that are usually painted black

Im considering whether to sell them or turn them into furniture, as they look so cool, unfortunately there is a bit of damage to them (a small dint in
each and some pretty average gravel rash) is your mate into other old cars? maybe he has something to trade that i can use on my ride? its a buggar
when cheeky bastards nick off with bits of your pride and joy

Yeah that is a nice Qey! I own a restored Premier 253/auto/air/steer and I love cruising in it when I feel like a change from VWs... it doesn't get
driven much!
As for those hubcaps; different assembly plants (two in Melbourne, one each in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide up until the 1980s) used different paint
brews and maybe this is why they are different... possibly you have ended up with a 'mixed' set
