In my experience importing/exporting things into countries like Indonesia requires the greasing of a number of palms to make things go smoothly. It
is not quite as structured as it is here. I would suggest you contact a shipping agent experienced in dealing with cars and get the info from them.

I have only imported parts so as for export i can only suggest the mob whom i used to import.
http://www.whiteknight.com.au/online/default.htm
These guys import/export all over the world for the WRC crews and cars. I used them because they know what they are doing.
Another mob is
http://www.schenker.com.au/services/airfreight/airfreight.html
Also a world known logistics comnpany.
There is one more but at present i cannot remember them
http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&hs=Odv&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla...
Most of them still deal via phone but the two mentioned above are legit and low cost even though they are the bigger mobs.
I would suggest because U r going to Indo the import laws would be little more relaxed, but having the car checked by Australian customs may be worth
the $150 or so. We all know about Chapell
Hope this helps.
Keep the steering and the propulsion seperate . Still a Kombi...
It's all good, until it's bad, i suppose

There are plenty of VWs available in Indonesia, and as labour is dirt cheap, getting a full resto on one you find does not cost that much.
I lived in Indonesia with my parents for a number of years, and we drove a number of nice VWs during that time. Beetles, Kombis, and a type 3 wagon we
were 'looking after' for a friend for a year.
If it was me, I'd be looking at buy some there and bring them back to Oz. In particular you will see lots of 'Things' and Brazilian busses built in
the 1980s that are in the style of the 60s buses
