Has anyone ever listed their car for movie/tv work?

I have noticed from time to time there is a callout on here for specific cars for TV/Movie work, just wondering if anyone had tried listing their car with a car agency? i found a link to
Vantage Management
who seem to manage a range of cars, just wondering if anyone has any experience with them (their webiste seems a bit lo-tech) or if there are any other agencies out there that people would recommend?

BE VERY CAREFUL! I have had one of my cars used a couple of times - NEVER AGAIN! Be warned that the film industry have different priorities when it comes to cars -that being whatever looks best on the screen at the time, and believe me, they don't hold back. The last time one of my cars was used it came back requiring a full respray as a result of filming activities that were not approved by me beforehand. I was very lucky to get MOST of the cost reimbursed after fighting for several weeks. Unfortunately since this event I have met a few other people that have had similar experiences to mine (both TV and film), so it does happen. Be aware also that any damage will not be covered by your insurance policy, and liability rests with the film company etc. My recommendation is to steer clear of it all.

yep, could be good, could be bad, good if you can stay with car, we had one of our kombi's in an episode of "The Alice", took about a week, my son wasn't working at the time so drove it to all the different sets, had a great time with great people, however no way would I leave the 54 out of my sight with someone for a day

Please, I need drivers side window regulator (winder mechanism) for my '54 http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l266/Kombikim/avatar1.jpg

I work in Art departments in the Film and Television biz, and one of my roles has been as a Vehicle Wrangler... I would suggest there are certainly times when things have not gone to plan, however as a motoring enthusiest who uses his own cars often, the rules are simple.... Make sure you car is covered by the production companies insurance, make sure you or a representative are will the car whenever possible... and beware of low brow, lo tech or dodgy operations.... basically know what you are in for and don't take any shit from producers cause they are the ones with the money!

I currently assist with all the cars for everybody's favourite tv soap 'Neighbours' and have recently been supplying all the vehicles on Forensic Investigators.....

The industry in this town is not in good shape so budgets are pretty thin but as a rule of thumb, absolute minimum earnings are $50.00 for a non driving/parked car, $100 for an action vehicle......

Generally thou you should expect to be paid $200-400 as a minimum daily and more for a specific vehicle.... and even more for specific action.....

anyway Blah Blah Blah..... anyone wants to know more or wants to list there car with me I'd be happy to let you know whats happening around town.... I am not an agent but I work full time in the biz with lots of contacts and I recieve at least 1-2 phone calls a week from people looking for props and or prop cars.......

cheers All, Ben - happy to help with any problems you have by giving you the inside word on how things work!

I got $100 for the use of my bus in the carsales ads in the papers. I was told it was for one ad in a local paper but it's been seen everywhere from Byron to the sunny coast for the last 6 or so months. Technichally it's only the one ad, but seems to be weekly. On a different occasion I got $250 for a phot of the rear wheel back, and I've only just seen that ad now 18 months after the shot was done. Money for jam for 10 minutes of my time.
