door locks
Heys guys...been a while, still dak daking around though ... got new plates now that I'm a full time mexican... SCARL8 ... which is too cool for
school hey!!!
ANYWAYS.... had my baby broken into a few weeks ago, and the little frickers pinched my back audio shelf I built which housed my sub and 6by9's... oh
well
it was such an easy break in... old 67 locks on her...so what should I change em too...$$$ in mind please

Hi,
Bad Luck...
I can only suggest finding replacement 1/4 windows with the locks in great condition....
I know the locks are available for sale new, but I don't know of any one who has replaced them...
wouldn't be an easy job...:o:P
the other alternative,
is fitting one piece windows....
another terrible job....
One of the locals fitted one piece windows to His beetle then didn't like them, so changed them back....
to original....
another terrible job....

Hi
I the old days when most cars had flipper windows you could buy metal brackets that held the flipper window handle shut, they fitted in the grove
that the window winds up in.
But then again if they really want to get in, they will smash a window.

Yes,
those were accessory items, that fitted over the opening lever on the 1/4 windows....
I think they were mainly made for holdens etc that did NOT have the push button lock on them...
I always thought the push button on the lever would stop theives from breaking in....
but they are very crafty nowa days...
there would be cheap ways of doing it like screwing a bracket etc to stop the 1/4 windows from opening
but they would look bad and stop You from opening the windows...
Maybe you should look at a cheap alarm system...
a siren alarm with a key switch in front of the door hinge..
like the last Beetles made in Mexico....
when the door is opened the alarm will sound for 3 minutes...
check Dick Smiths etc...

cheers guys... reckon I'll go the alarm route...
have installed the discrete new stereo, and placed a nice picnic blanket and variety of junk in the back seat to disguise the appearance of cool

there is two small screws behind the door rubber holdingthe handle in.
Very easy to change... but the new handles you buy, which are cheap, are pretty easy to open with any key.
Best bet is stereo in the glove box, and cover over the speakers. Worked for me for years of leaving my car in the city etc.
