Shocks don't help 'lift' - that's the role of your torsion bars and tyres - but Cofap Gas Charged are good little units for not much $

so youve never changed a set of shockies and had the new ones lift the car a little higher ,like an inch or so,especially if there heavy duty gas

na vw stock shocks don't have any expanding force like new car so they wont have any more like you can go the coil overs again would be the cheap job lift kit would be good with a raised front beam but thats some big bux

and even other cars when you put new shock in and let it down they mght be a little higher
then when you drive it it should sit the same
im going to run air shocks on the rear as i have seen a t3 wagon with the and they work great when they where loaded

I reckon that you get a beam adjuster fitted on the front (or you can just cut and turn the beam) and adjust the preload on you rear torsion bars.
