In an idle moment the other day I completely costed out a complete ragtop roof from Paris Beetles --- for the smallest size--- lined and in a
coloured vinyl -(Both of which are options that are additional cost)--and it worked out to be AUS$870.00 all up to my door , the larger sizes are
fractionaly more, you could reduce this cost by about $125 for the plain black unlined version.
I couldn't get a cost of the hole, but if its a pommy one it'll be a rip of --oh yeh I costed the exchange rate at AUS$2.50 to one English pound ,
here's a link if anyones interested http://www.parisbeetles.co.uk/index.htm
I'm awaiting a reply on a stayfast or similar cloth finish instead of vinyl--thats if they do it of course.
Cheers ,

sun roof
Paris Beetles Kit = Non original, nasty, cheap, devalue your car, ugly looking.
Goldie = Original, nice working mechanism, costly to fit, adds value to your car, nice looking
recycle, restore, enjoy

Ah-- Ha--I'm sure there is, not the least of which is the bucks, I'm guessin for someone doing a rebuild/and respray it may be all good but for
ordinary poor people like me perhaps the actual good quality--so I'm lead to believe-- aftermarket number may have to suffice if a sunroof is the way
we want to go.
I tried to no avail to track down the Hollandia / Webasto stuff that apparently VW used to fit as a sort of OE aftermarket but after contacting them
(Holandia/webasto) and trying to communicate with some of the most stupid ignorant farkers on the face of the planet I gave that avenue away.
While I'm here does anyone know of any other sunroof manufacturers that may do beetle ones ???
Cheers ,

the point being made is that here isnt the place to advertise an inferior product for the common man. its a thread about the best ragtop you could
possibly ever get fo an early beetle. expect it to go well over a grand.

Really nothing wrong with any kit or press stud roofs, it all comes down to how much you budget is on your car.

X2 on that.
You could try a Britax roof as they don't look too bad and I understand they're easy to install. Do a search on here for Britax. The only problem
is that they don't come up too often.

Rag roofs
If you want a rag and this is out of your budget thats cool but if your happy with just a hole that opens and closes and still looks good, yeah get a
britax but also buy a US vw mag or stand in the news agent for a sec as they are still made in all different sizes for all makes of VW.
They are cheap!
But if your all about original then this is for you but like all things factory made in a condition like this it comes with a price.
All the best with the sale Rhett it looks to be a nice unit.:thumb

This certainly isn't out of my budget if I wanted it and if I were going for an all origional I would possibly consider it though as an addition I
wonder how it would affect an"all origional" claim --I'll leave that one to the valuation experts I think .
What I have been looking for is a new good quality aftermarket sunny , preferably from one of the companys that provided aftermarket units to
VW back in "the day" as it were--I'm still looking--.
Reason--my car is a hybrid rust free and disgustingly healthy beetle after a money vacination and the expertise of VW & Volvo for the stuff I
couldn't do myself.
62 pan-- 64 body-- 72 1641 rebuild motor 69 1500 gearbox etc etc the list goes on.
So if anyone knows where these sunny animals are I'd absolutely be pleased if you could let me know,
Cheers ,
:beer

This thread has been cleaned up after it was reported by more than one member....it is a buying and selling section, so if you want to have the debate
about which ragtop suits which person for whatever reasons....feel free to do it in the technical section (not here). But if it gets personal, then it
will be edited again.
Al don't think I am targeting you, there were other posts that were deleted here.
