Where to find merc or falcon 16" steelies?
I went to 2 big wheel & tyre joints in Syd (Tempe Tyres & Australia's best) and asked if they had any merc or falcon 16" steelies that had been
traded in etc. They said they usually just send them to be scrapped (obviously, as there's not much of a resale market for them). They didn't seem
to be willing to offer much more help than that (fair enough, they'd much rather me buy a new set of alloys off them).
So apart from checking ebay or trading post for months, does anyone know who these receyclers are or of any particular wheel shops that hold on to
such wheels?
I suppose i should also try a few wreckers?

Check your local Ford and Merc dealerships. Lots of people upgrade to factory alloys through their dealer, although I don't know what the dealers do
with these traded wheels.

Thanks for the offer 65 busser although i was trying for a complete set. I May give Kombi Rescue a go.
Shane 57, good spot, they must've just been listed. They look good, although 7 1/2 was a little wider than what i was originally after. I'll watch
them though and see how much they go for.
Sinsecure, good idea, i hadn't thought about trying the dealerships!
Bushed, yeah i believe the current merc vito comes with a 16x6.5 rim as do the AUII onward falcons. The falcon has a slightly different PCD but i
hear this can be overcome by slight redrilling. The falcon rims though have an ET that would require fittement of smaller spacers than that would be
required of the vito rims, which would be beneficial i suppose.

Dont go to the BIG tyre guys, they never seems to want to help.
I used to work for a scrap dealer paying $10 for mag wheels and we would get the steelies for free.
Every now and then you would come across a set of wheels that were ok for reuse, esp the steel ones.
i recon a case of beer at the local bob janes and you would be fine.

I have run Merc 16x7.5 (47ET) and 16x7 (42ET I think?) and 15x6.5 (38ET) on baywindow bus' and they are the perfect steel rim.... Pretty ez to get
too.... Go to any good performance tyre shop (preferably one near a Merc dealer and your made).... I have picked rims up directly from the dealer too,
but they can be a little weird about it sometimes.... If you are still in need, I can source you some from here.....

thanks guys for all the suggestions/offers.
sinsecure: yep originally those caught my eye, but then realised T5 changed to a PCD of 5x120. would've been good otherwise!
i guess you'll find out if i found some when i finally put up a pick of my ride.
