I'd be interested in a bash plate if you can get them.
I was hoping to reproduce them as I need two bash plates anyway and they look straight forward to make.:thumb

Nathan,
We call these "skid plates" or "case guards" over here in the US.
I often see them listed inThe Samba Thing parts classifieds, http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/cat.php?id=41
I currently see three listed there.
Occasionlly you will also see the front guard and rear engine guards listed. There is a rear guard listed now
You can do a search and also get email noitifications when a part you are looking for is posted.

Pretty handy.
Saves minutes, if not hours of searching.

Got one!

I got a bash plate the other day.
I might look into making a few as I need to make a half for the incomplete one I have.
Is anyone interested in one?
If I get a few interested I'll knock up a few.

Bugboy kindly provided the sample of the bash plate, the first copy is already made, but it needs some refinements
to make enough room for rear mounting bolt.

Hi

I bought a VW book at Valla few years ago called difficult journeys I think. It has accurate plans for these units. I will scan it and post it if anyone is interested.

The plans would be certainly helpful, but after experience with the prototype I can tell, that welding will pull grid out of alignment and it won't fit as it should. Construction of welding jig is necessity.
