Bloody windscreen wipers.
I've got a 64 and the windscreen wipers have more float than bag of corks, quite simply there ain't enough pressure in the wiper arms to hold the
blades down properly--this is obviously an inherant problem with the damn things--so whats the cure--I'm thinkin those airfoils that clip onto the
wiper arm --if of course I can get any to fit but I'm also think better minds than mine will have solved this one a long time ago.
Any advice gratefully received,

u have change the car to 12V already so get a wiper motor from a 68 -70 model with the smaller motor so it fits under the front scuttle
the arm centers are stightly wider or narrower carnt remember which but you only need to use a file to easy out the holes
the drive arm of the motor needs to be repositioned 180 degrees so the arms sit the same way as the 40hp when in the park position
the origional 68 arms are bolt on and also need to be shortened n bent a little together with the blades
bit of stuffing round but you get 2 speed wipers n arms that stick to the screen.

Blades from a 1968 beetle will fit straight onto the round shaft of your beetle...
these have a spring under the arm
and a grubscrew to screw onto the shaft..
the arms may be a bit long etc
but as said above, nothing is impossible
just a bit harder..
and I have seen the 1968 arms on early beetles...

Thought I'd revive this thread to ask if all this also applies to a 59? Watching my wipers is slower than watching paint dry and now it rains every
week!

I gotthese wiper arms from Cip1 and they work fine the extra spring in the blade assembly helps keep it on the glass

Yep They slide on like the originals and they have the holes for the locating screw
Only problem is they are not chrome

It would be nice to have the better wipper arms, but some extra speeds is what is also needed...

After doing a bit of reading on here I have bough the newer wiper motor (it's in the mail). So I take the new motor (does it fit straight in or does
it need a bit of filing of the holes?) and then fit the new blade bits from Cip1 (who are they and where are they?) and then I still want my switch to
look like the old ivory one so can I fit that nob, or do I have to use a light switch, or is there a third option.
After writing all that, I might write a how to on this once I'm done.

George at Classicveedub has a variable speed switch. Just click on quick search on the homepage & type in wiper motor.
