Mitsubishi distributor how to please.
Any one got a how to, on putting the mitsu dizzy in a type 1. What year dizzy do i need? What other parts do i need? I believe you need to shorten
the shaft a bit.... I can use my Dads lathe. I think I just need some starting points. Ive tried to search for info, but I just cant use the search
on this forum.

4 cyl 2.6l astron engine is the dizzy you want.
shorten it and make sure you line up the oil grove,make sure you push the bronze bush up into the shaft before cuttting.
drill and shim.
module and coil and of you go.
just grab a stock dizzy and make it look the same.
dont worry to much about wether No.1 is in the same place,because getting the oil gallery lined up is more important.
they work very well smart choice.
what size motor is it for,

What he said ^. Also, on carb models the module is attached to the body of the dizzy and there is a vacuum advance diaphragm on it. Uses a reluctor
setup to trigger the module. Cheap as well.
The later EFI ones have no module and no advance mechanisn at all. They have 2 hall effect sensors - one to trigger spark and one for no.1 top dead
centre.
I'm having one shortened for my megasquirt project actually.
I don't know if you would need to look at your advance curve on the carb model to see if it's good for a VW aircooled engine. Maybe others have done
it and will tell.

Cheers thanks for the year I was pretty sure the 88 had the Astron engine. So is the Carb one better for my needs? Since it has the vacuum advance?

Unless you are going with fuel injection then the carb one is the only one you can run. Has mechanical and vacuum advance.
